Hi guys,
It's WSW and I'm contemplating whether I should head to kurnell or la per. Which spot do you recommend given the wind direction?
Also, I'm not familiar with la perouse. Where do you go into the water and sail exactly?
Lapa can be good in a s/westerly.
Bit of a tricky launch with the wind shadow and moorings but once out its a nice run to Yarra Bay with the option of resting on the beach there.
SW at LaPa is actually pretty good..If too much West, then the speed run at Foreshore Rd maybe more fun....
Apparently the iPhone takes photos upside down. Or Seabreeze ignores orientation data in the image file.
Anyway, turned out to be more like 20-35 once you got a few hundred metres off shore. bit much for a 6.3 but good with a 5.5 ;)
I went to Kurnell but the wind seemed quite offshore for my small board and no-one was out. Ended up going back to St George Sailing Club which would have been the perfect spit and had 20 minutes fun on my 4.5 being stacked. Then the wind stopped and only a few gusts taunted me... Should have gone there in the first place and saved the hour in the car. Well, I guess I know for next time.
Where did you launch?
La pa this morning
is that off that old tourist attraction ??
^^ Bare Island.
Scary spot. Surfed it (surfboard) a few times over the years. Doesn't work properly until it's at least double over head (6ft), but gets better with more size (8-10ft). It's a really shifty, unpredictable and powerful peak. If you get caught inside, it's a long, deep hold-down. There's a lot of current out there too, which makes it hard to sit in the right spot, so if you're windsurfing there and get separated from your kit by a big set, you'll have fun getting it back. Never seen any noahs there, but it's one of those really eerie spots.
You got some kahunas sailing out there alone DunkO .
