Small day though. I actually would say while it's not as consistent as Hookipa when it's on it makes Hookipa look like a kiddy playground.

It looks more like an outer reef on maui who needs a bigger swell to work or a lower tide. ;-)
I agree with the crowd! I guess when it goes off...it really goes off..need a solide swell or she was warming up on the shoulder? When you zoomed out it seemed to break a bit more longer on your right?

I checked Makaha early in the morning on my way for a surf. There were guys towing in off the point and it was at least 2x over head (say mast high for the non-surfers).

The surf was in the 6 - 8 foot range all day but with a lot of south direction in it so was probably refracting around the point and not breaking perfectly. Also, I figure Jess was out at lunch time when the wind was up and that was also bang on high tide, hence the waves look a bit fat. That footage may be shot between the set waves too.

Most of the Northern Beaches weren't handling the size so it definitely wasn't a small day.

looks more like Voodoo's than Makaha. Sometimes it breaks a lot better than Makaha where you have get very shallow for a wave to form up.

Saturday and Sunday was solid, Really solid. Went for a surf no one was out so hard to gauge the size, but once out I realise it was serious, solid ground swell heaps of punch.

Good effort going out when so light, sketchy. Hard to know where they are going to break when it's wider out there. Wish there was more footage.

I've got a number of shots looking upwind along the lineup burned into my brain. In particular one scene of Dunko bottom turning on an over mast high barrel. It was a sunny day and wind was blowing about 20 to 25 knots. There were three of us out plus a surfer towing in further South.

Sadly haven't found a way to download it to YouTube yet.

It's a bit like Windang... when it's good i.e. when wind, tide and swell direction all line up it's better than Maui. It's rarely crowded and even then there is a pretty friendly scene. It's long way from the car park and because the headland is stuck a fair bit out to sea you usually in for a long swim if you break something in the wrong spot. I think especially the last point is why not a lot of people sail there.
