Hi there !
I'm Max, a German windsurfer studying at UNSW Sydney. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring my gear from Germany but now with this weeks forecast I have to go on the water! If there's anybody out there who'd be happy to share some of your old equipment with me, that'd simply be awesome! It goes without saying that I'd contribute to the costs. Btw doesn't seem that there are (m)any places around Sydney to hire decent material?
Give me a call if you're looking for a windsurf company and I'd be the happiest person on earth to join any time :-) 0403939656
Hang loose ????
There is only one shop in sydney : windsurfnsnow. Sydney Uni used to have a windsurfing club, they had a trailer full of equipment, try and investigate if the club is still active. Remi from thewindsurfingshed.com.au might get you some cheap kit, or try Justin from windsurfingreligion.com
What sort of sailing are you after, bay freeride or waves? Do you have a car?
Hey powersloshin thanks for your answer! I'm already member of UNSW windsurfing club but these days I can't take their equipment. I'm mostly after flatwater conditions, freeride..
And no I don't have a car but living quite close to Botany Bay
Hey Max
yes they guys have given you some good choices here.
St George Sailing Club, is a great spot to sail on the Georges river into Botany Bay - ask for Jorn, Keith, Chris or Connor, I'm sure they will be able to organise an older board and rig for you to borrow.
likewise DAC DOBROYD AQUATIC CENTRE have a big fleet and very welcoming people.
if you'd like to catch a train to Gosford Railway station CENTRAL COAST, Take a 15min walk to Gosford sailing club and meet the guys there,
AUS 817,
(above) John Doolan is the windsurfing captain and these guys there are fantastic. They can loan you virtually any type of board you could imaging and a rig to match!
they race on saturdays and are usually there by 12 and racing by 2.
a few of them are there several days a week as well.
also accessible by train is TORONTO Amateur sailing club
catch a train to FASSIFERN RAILWAY STATION, (2hours from STRATHFIELD STATION), catch the bus to Toronto and you will see the sailing club on your left at the bottom of the hill near the Main Street. 26 VICTORY PARADE. Get off the bus there and come say hello. We are there MOST sundays by 11:00am and sailing by 1.00pm.
IF YOU HAVE A MATE WITH A CAR, I could loan you a long board like an old mistral competition club
old school but ok. For a month or so of fun.
Hawks Nest Port Stephens and Jervis Bay are both great places to sail.
we sail windsurfers - original, one design and the new LT at Toronto.
call me on 0438336495 if you need any help or contact numbers.
welcome to Aus, my daughter goes to UNSW incidentally.

The trip up from central station takes 2hrs, but its very pleasant, nice views. However try to avoid peak times as its sux if you dont get a seat.
I could pick you up from the station, but its only a bit over 10 min walk to the water where we race/foil/sometimes short board.
Other options up here are speed sailing a Budgewoi and surf sailing towoonbay, and sup surfing the box at umina. These all involve a drive after getting to gosford but Id be more than happy to help you out with a lift.
Budgewoi is for wind 15knots plus. NE or W are good .Can be good in S as well but a bit more challenging. Its very shallow very weeds, using special delta fins but glassy flat water. Very high speeds are the norm.
TowoonBay, a sheltered bay in ocean with a point break. open to S and SSE wind. I tend to sail sup with sail there due to my weight and skill limitations, but its a great wave board site.
The Box at umina, the longest nicest break I know other than the pass at Byron bay. Idea in south swell, low winds, best not to close to high tide unless the swells are very big.
Happy to loan race board, short board, or I do have a large wave board and appropriate sails to suit any activity or sup and paddle. No fee, just happy for company.
Don't have a spare foil to loan but pretty much anything else.
shoot me an email if you want to book something in. some week days also possible.
Regards Lyndon
By any chance, anybody out there around Botany Bay these days?
Btw this Mast enters UNSW Windsurf Club history :D In the end, the car made it.
Cheers Max
