Yes the lake is full, however the spit is working, its normally too shallow, so its still good fun. There is no long walk out and the salinity levels are low, so the water is some what pleasant.
The spit will give about a 200-300m run of flat water, then you have to turn and head backup. To get upwind enough for the next run you have to go beyond the split, which means pushing through the chop - not much fun but do able. I was using my 55cm JP speed/slalom, 5.6R7 and a 23cm SS fin. A speed board would be usable, but not optimal through the chop. Here's a photo of JB on that day
