Saw this thread and managed to find some footage I took of Speedweek 2004 in the cupboard.... I had wavesailing gear...wasn't going to break many records!
Ahhh, the man with the camera housing!
I knew that was floating around somewhere. great to see it again!
I remember you , so inspired by that mount I built my own . How much easier is a GoPro and a fast computer. Welcome back
It's looking a bit promising on GFS Weather model (Windguru) for the Cup WE Monday, but other models don't agree so it's not a sure thing.
The weather models are still slightly different (and converging) but there is definitely something happening between Sunday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
And a long range teaser for Saturday Week as well.
Saturday is shaping up to be Epic. Low tide is 12 midday.
The strongest winds are forecast for late Friday arvo on some models, but the tide will be right in at 5.30pm, and probably very high with the surge.
If anyone was thinking that would ever like to sail the speed strip at Sandy Point, I don't think you will see a much better opportunity than this weekend.
The forecasts are firming up for Saturday, and now it actually looks like Sunday could also be OK, and then another promising front for Tuesday after that!
Low tide Saturday is right around Midday and gets later by about an hour each day after.
Still looking solid for Saturday. Not so certain for wind direction on Sunday but I'll be spent by them I hope
I am actually starting to get a bit nervous. I have been rigging up 5.0's and 4.4's just to check I remember how to!
250-260 is the ideal seed angle.
Some 2010 session footage with a little bit of sail clew hitting the water and straps going flat out
And one of those moments when the fin lets go and is good enough to autopilot back as you ease off, regain control and give it heaps again
