I am that you can set it up to record the real time speed onto the video. This would be a great feature!

There is a program called Dashware that lets you superimpose your GPS data over a video when editing, but I have never been able to get it to run on my Windows XP computers.

Sorry I don't have the garmin, but I do have the Sony action cam FDR X1000V this will record Gps data so you can see a speedo
and a visual of your track in the bottom corner,also has reasonable stabilization.

I just installed dashware on my windows 10 computer without any problems. I had a quick play with importing a gps track - it has support for GPX files, but it seems to have a bug in the xml parsing.

To import a gpx file successfully I opened a copy the file in a text editor, and deleted the namespace (in bold) on the gpx node at the beginning of the file, and then saved it.

I'll try find a matching gopro and gps track to see what it looks like.

Yes i do, if you use the Garmin editing program you just have to setting and you can have all sorts of extras come up

It's not a "speed video" but I found a matching GPS track for this vid. Getting the GPS data track timing in sync with the video is a bit fiddly, but it was made a bit easier with the spin-out at 1:30 making a distinctive blip in the middle one of the tracks in the map view. The big speed dips in the gybes made those easy to match up too



There are hundreds of speed widgets that you can use or customize, and you can create your own. I threw a couple on the vid to see what it would look like.

Sony, Garmin and Tomtom all do a gps camcorder. The Tomtom looks to be the best of the bunch.

A cheaper option is the Gobandit GPS HD. Gobandit went out of business a year ago and it is no longer possible to down load GoBandit studio from their website. As a result, no body wants the Gobandit any more and they can be bought super cheap.

I bought the original 720p version for £25 on ebay, and recently bought the later1080i version for £50, also on ebay.

GoBandit studio enables you to add gps overlays and is very very easy to use. Luckily for me, I had downloaded GoBandit studio just before they went out of business. If any body needs a copy, I can email it to you.

The clip below is the older 720i, I have not used the 1080i version as yet. The main difference between the Gobandit and Garmin etc, is the Gobandit shows your peak speed and current speed. The other manufactures only show current speed.

gobandit studio software has kph and knots options. I normally just use khm for my non windsurfing friends as they've never heard of knots!!!
