Looks like kitesurfing has been around for a bit longer than windsurfing

The twisty dangly moves are still the same although they had two girls per kite back then in lieu of two guys today. Nice find stehsegler.

When I was on Maui in 1993 I think I saw the first real kiteboarder. It was sort of a kite shaped like an arrow with kitelines and a huge long bar and he was using water ski's. I've got it on video but I don't know how to put it up on this site.

Sweet! This is practically the (insane) idea I had of attaching a windsurfer to a buoy in high winds, and water-starting > flying.
Rather than have a boat doing 20 knots you use a 20 knot wind instead.
A kite seems more practical.

Now I just need to team up with MacroScience to build the crazy contraption and market it to schoolies, Japanese tourists and honeymooners visiting the Gold Coast.

What could possibly go wrong?
