Spending recently on gear upgrade not much left for new windsurfing rack.

I spent approx $20.
wood from Bunnings $16, some screw $2, glue $2.

One day work, and most just spent thinking how to do it...

one drill , one saw

one holesaw 40mm and one flat bit 35mm

one day drying glue

and ready, 2.4 meter high , 8 shelves / levels every ~25 cm


time to rest..

Nice rack, I'm ready to rest too after swimming my gear 1/2 mile to shore today cuz the wind died on me.

That is brilliant and I particularly like the rounded joint, much easier than chiseling out square holes etc

Those look like mine, but I used round closet poles for the horizontals, then I slipped some foam pipe insulation over the poles.
You probably still could over the square stock, you just have to get big pipe insulation, they do make it, and it's cheap.

You know what works really well are swimming pool noodles. Just cut them in half and glue them on those poles you have their. Great soft protection for your equipment to lay on. I hang my board on those noodles with a rope running through them attached to 2 anchore bolts and works perfect. I even use a noodle on my tailgate for my P/U truck to absorb the bumps and to give my board a soft ride when I transport it to the water.

I had a 1998 Porsche Boxster at one point in time, and I ran 2 noodles on the role bar, and put a luggage rack on the back of the car and put a noodle their as well and ran my board right on that. Ran my sails in the passenger seat and boom as well including the masts. It looked so sweet. Gotta lot of lookers with that set up. But I could only run my equipment that way with the top down only. I gotta find some pics of this and post it for you guys.

I did 60 cm ( less 4 cm rounded and hidden into hole) , since my wider board is 68 cm, stand a bit outside ,but will not fall.

Yes Sean, Just cutting marine carpet today to glue on top .

Next project is similar rack for sails , but I think this time standing vertically, Say -3 or 4 row for 3 sails each, plus one row for masts.Still thinking how to do bottom shelve support , to drain water from sails (?)Then hanger for booms. All the same round joint concept.

Since a have too many boards, I need to store them on end, like a windsurf shop....upright on the tails.
I need 9'10" of horizontal space to store 13 windsurf boards.
Vertical space needed only the length of the longest board, which is an old 8'10" Mike Zaicheck slalom.
Within the next 9' of the garage, I store 27 sails upright in their bags.
Our garage is 10' high, and 20' deep.

Yeah, I use old junky sails most of the time.
Have a '16 Manic and '17 Cosmic, but also use a 1995 Gaastra M-3 which is competitive with any modern 6.0 sail. Oh, compared to '13 Naish 4 cams, '14 Cosmic, and '08 North Warp Slaloms anyways. Best of the litter are '97-98 North Spectros, which are light, fast, huge range, and bend the mast a LOT less than modern sails.

Nice work. I decided to make one out of PVC 25mm retic pipe and fittings screwed to the wall. No screws visible as I hid them inside the 45"T" then pushed the board supports parts on. Looks kind of trick!. I prefer to have the boards vertical for ease of use, also I didn't glue the fittings so I can remove it if I need the space in the garage.

Due to windless weather my wooden rack received now carpet upgrade.Piece of marine carpet , quick grip glue, and maybe an hour work.

hahahah you went full on with carpet !!!! Nice one macro ! at least you won't damage the board if you lift it too high or too quickly !
