I read yesterday that BMW and Boing have a entered into a joint agreement to share knowledge and technology around recycling of carbon parts.
This made me wonder if any of the windsurf companies out there have looked into recycling. There must be an awe full lot of carbon and styrofoam going to landfill.
I just ran some random figures...where I basically guessed a lot of stuff, I reckon collectively the windsurfing industry uses ~20 tonne of carbon a year (feel free to discredit me on this), that's not a lot. I don't know how much carbon is in a 787 but given that a large portion of that aircraft is now carbon there's probably a lot. Case in point it's a lot more to gain from Boeing etal recycling carbon that windsurfing companies.
