Weed fin recommendation

Hi all looking at purchasing my first weed fin. I have 2009 115L RRD FSW that I typically use with 6.2 wave sail. I also sometimes use the board with a 5.4 and 6.7. I weigh 90KG and typically sail Leighton\Pinnaroo WA. I am at the stage where I am just starting ride the shoulder of smaller waves at other spots as well. I don't care about top end speed, but do struggle to stay up wind at times. The current fin is a 32 that I think came with the board. When purchasing a weedy do I go with the same size or do I have to increase the size of the fin do to the increased rake? What do weed fins do to the performance of the board?

Choose the same vertical length as your current fin, ie. distance from board to fin tip measured perpendicular to the board. It will look a lot longer than your current fin due to the rake.
You will need to move your mast base and foot straps back to feel balanced again, since the centre of effort of the fin is further back on a weedy. Bad news about going upwind though, as it is generally harder on a weedy. If you usually use the outboard strap positions you could go for a longer fin.
