I usually paint commissioned portraits but a group I'm with is having an exhibition of figures in a landscape and I thought I could have some fun and paint sailboarding..
If anyone has any closeups they'd let me paint , preferably really going for it , half out of control ,spray , contorted faces etc .. Please post here..If I have some character or action I can enhance it.. I prefer just blasting rather than wave action..
Here is what I already have..not bad but doesn't quite hit the spot and inspire me..

No 1 - almost there.. a bit blurry for the face.. The quality isn't very good - low pixels photo.
I probably won't try for an exact likeness as I really want to capture the stoke - fun , exhilaration , effort etc..Still if I have a clear face I can enhance that feeling of concentration fear etc..

Love the muscles and expression here but maybe more front on? If I use this I might change the sails to Severne gear..



Ps if any of these photos are of you and you don't want me to use them let me know. I have saved them over a few years waiting for a chance to use them.

I am after blasting shots ( spray flying, board at warp speed lifting out of the water,look of terror / commitment on the riders face.)
Still post other great shots here.Even if I don't use them I'm sure others would love to see them!

The reason I'd like a sharp close-up of the sailors face is I want to to put some feeling into the painting..so it will grab people..Ideally a non windsurfer will find the finished painting compelling.

don't know if this is much good for you ,but it would be easy to paint ,west oz .

Vote 1 for any of the Stroppo photos. (shaka one) Ok its not flying the fin. But the gear is definately being pushed hard! Unique eye catching photos. Great stuff!!!!

The online ones are great but low resolution can be an issue.
Great poster! I wonder if it would work with a smaller board..Plus I'd get permission..
I'm after something I can identify with as hopefully then it will show in the final painting..( Hence no epic waveshots- even though they may be better action. ).

But add an expression and muscles like this ( photo from the front )

I can use things from several photos- e.g - If I get another clear face with an appropriate expression from the right angle ( front on) I can change the face in photo 1 to the new face..Also I can ad lib and add spray etc

There's a heap of stuff on YouTube. You can stop the vid and do a screen grab wherever you like.

Although I do like that picture alot snides perhaps another one you took fits the brief a bit better
