Hi Folks. I need to find a vehicle that will allow me to carry my Equipe (12' 4") in the inside of it. I'd rather not go the cargo van route (I've seen this done) so I've been thinking about a used Chevy Suburban. Has anyone tried this? Also, does anyone have any recommendations? I should mention that I live in the US.

2012 Yukon XL
need to take off headrest from front passenger seat, slide the seat all the way forward then lean seat back all the way back.
Fold seat backs forward in back 2 rows

fits 350 cm board with front of board just onto dash. I would expect the equipe would be fine

Make sure you don't get in an accident and set off the air bag

Any chick that doesn't dig this is not worth...unless she's hot, in which case there are no rules

Ford Econoline extended body van. I have a 1999 250 model, and it carries all my gear. 12' of space behind the seats, and the nose of the board can slip between the two seats. I had an Equipe II XR and it fit.

My brother once carried a Laser inside his but it did slide forward and crack the windshield.

Hiace is one of the many cool Japanese cars and trucks we don't get here.

Thanks for the tips and advice, guys. It's great to hear the Yukon should work out. The Toyota Hiace looks awesome, but they don't seem to be available on the East Coast of the US.

LWB Delica? Maybe even an SWB would work.

Thanks Remery. The Delica, unfortunately, isn't really available in the US. It looks great, though.

By the way, what does SWB mean? I looked it up and Urban Dictionary says, "skinny white bitch", lol.

Delicas are a Japanese import. Quite popular with windsurfers, I've seen 10 of them at the local spot.

i can only just get a 10 foot long Malibu in my Mitsubushi 'Walk Through' Express which is the same body as the Delica LWB. I dont think a Raceboard would fit.

BTW, LWB Delicas seem pretty thin on the ground in Australia. Have been looking for a good one for a while.

Import one then. The rules are changing in the next few years, but I think you can still import them. It's not as hard as you would think as there are brokers that help you find the vehicle. It takes a few months, but you will get what you want, with genuine mileage, and generally a good price.

I would highly recommend these guys as I imported two Elgrands through them:

There is another guy that I wouldn't recommend, but ironchef were great.

Look into the Skoda superb. I put all my boards inside. Not a van but most of the time when I put boards inside I'm driving alone. It fits a 10"2 sup inside. It has the most cabin space behind a S class Mercedes as far as a wagon goes. It's deceptive. Drives small but has heaps of room inside.
ive been happy.

I know the feeling. My Lechner or one of the Naish custom Raceboards cracked my '74 Kombi windshield. I have kept the boards but they are worth nothing whereas if I had kept the four Kombis I'd have about $70k worth of car.

i have the not-extended ford econoline 150. i can put a hobie outback kayak inside fully rigged for fishing. i think it is 12'6". the rear seat has to be unlatched from the floor and laid sideways. the kayak bow rests up on the console, stern at the rear door, closed of course. so y, fits but more or less dominates the interior.

more typically, i have a removable WS rack/box that takes 3 boards, 8 sails. that fits in half-width of interior on driver's side and leaves room for 2 bikes on the passenger side of cargo space. so with that kit 'in'', the kayak(s) or sup go up on the rack. and fully loaded - still has room for 3 adults (or 2 adult, 2 children) all wearing OEM seatbelts.
