We spend a lot of time sailing in the shadow of our sails, just wondering if the clear parts offer much protection from sunburn? Does anyone have a UV meter they can put behind a sail to take a reading?

wasn't there a topic a while back about putting sunscreen on sails to protect them from UV damage...

He's talking of the sails protecting you from sunburn..not protecting the sails from the sun..

I think there is at least the same chance that they reflect the sun back at you, so doubling the UV. You should always wear your hat and plenty of sunscreen...
