Hi,

I thought I would share a conversion I did to a normal board bag to make it a roller bag as I couldn't find anything in any of the shops.

Might be of use to a few people.

I just used 2 old roller blade wheels/the bolts from the roller blade, some alloy channel, small piece of ply & a few screws

Took about an hour to cut cut the bottom wall out of the channel so the wheels would fit & fit everything together, didn't cost anything as I had the stuff lying around in the workshop.

Not meant to be pretty, just stop the airport staff dragging the board around

Interesting idea. That said my recommendation would be grind back any sharp corners and cut off any screws sticking out. They can refuse carriage if it looks like it could injure someone. Also I would expect those rails will be ripped off the first time it's loaded. Large bags are often pushed sideways to get them in and out of the cargo hold. Especially when your bag is on the load limit and doesn't have handles it will see a lot of abuse.Don't expect them to use the wheels. I have had quiver bags destroyed despite giant design features that say "handle" and "wheels" because they dragged bags across the tarmac.

I was going to cut a peice of noodle to glue in the channel covering the screws, there are 10 screws in each, should last this trip

Top effort! Don't want to burst your bubble but to baggage or freight handlers wheels mean this side up and fragile labels are a physical challenge, top load only is a good way to get your gear loaded first

I know the standard of service with baggage handlers is not good, but nothing ventured nothing gained
