Interesting design, just not sure if it's worth the effort. Building a new trailer atm which should 9 boards including 14' Sup and race boards.

Gob smacked! Not at the trailer above, but the Gum tree NASA engineering project...so many questions...
how the Fk do you get the boom off the roof when it's up? Is there a drop down ladder?
Why so long? Why so Big...(if I had a $ for every time I heard that hehe! )
Why would you not just a have a tilt up panel on a gas strut or roller door side if you wanted side access?
Who needs so much stuff just to go windsurfing?
Who would pay the massive freight cost to ship that from the UK?
5-6 booms?
Do they know you can stick a modern board and a couple of sails in or on the car towing it?,
There's heaps more .....

I reckon the boom would be easily reached just above head height
BTW its in WA - he brought it here from England. Probably opened it once in Gero and stuck the for sale sign up 2mins later ;-)
nice ,and a serious bit of equipment ...disappointed it has no Bunk beds .. .but you can buy a van for that price ..and keep it loaded...easier to park too..

Probably opened it once in Gero and it ended up in Northhampton
^^ I am familiar with this concept as mine has a "lid" that is hinged on the side
I thought a bit of downhaul rope would be sufficient to stop it flipping open too far, but nah at 100kph on the highway she catches a lot of wind if you forget to lock it!!!!! Some bloody scared oncoming traffic too, it took up all the oncoming lane when it opened tooo far
As you can imagine if this flipped all the way over and u r coming the other way! So now it has a bit of chain and a rope.
Anyway ^^^^^^ $100 trailer, $100 for a sheet of galv for a new floor, top bit all free stuff from tip. Paint free from tip. Gate hinges $15.
Yeah it doesn't hold a lot of gear (3 boards, 6 sails etc) but you can lock the gear away, the top slides off to make it a normal trailer in 5mins (one man job) which I think is a big advantage and it sits below the roof line of a Commodore so not too much drag. Plus 8x4 so it does not have a wider track than the tow vehicle (8x5 going down a sand track is a pain in the arse)
I like.
When it comes to building stupid trailers, I admit to being guilty over the last year. Not finished yet, injuries and time have slowed me down. This one has king size bed, seating area, 8 boards, 8+ sails, as many masts boom kite gear as you want to fit. I was waiting till its finished to put together a post with details.

I live inner city Sydney and that trailer is almost the size of my house. And I can only fit a queen size bed !

YEAH THAT'S MORE LIKE IT .wat a ripper .looks like a 11.4 Nalu on top of the cruiser .
new trailer is looking great Kaleb.
yuppy, here's a shot of a few lined up at our local spot a few weeks ago. Council is kind enough to set aside "boat trailer" parking right on the waters edge for us
A bit of progress on mine over the weekend. The base leaving the building before it gets too big to fit through the door. 5.4 x 1.8

Looks great, can't wait to see it down the beach!

The photo of the trailers is from coal point.
There are some great trailers out there it's a matter of what suits you.
Mine i built myself in 1996 yep 20 years old after my first trip to WA didn't want to do that again without a trailer.
Anyway good stuff keep the projects going Kaleb that looks sweet mate.

Nice trailer-projects! I've thinking about getting/making one myself, having the gear inside the car 24/7 becomes impractical... and stinky.
My ideal concept would be a compact trailer for 4 boards + usual gear, I can't see the need for more. Getting it done by a professional is expensive, but I don't have the welding skills and equipment to make the skeleton myself, so I'm still tribulating on what's the best strategy... probably waiting for a nice tradie trailer to come out in Gumtree.
This is incarnation 3 of this beauty. It was built 30 years ago originally by a couple of mates of mine. Legend has it they were at a BBQ and the original owner mentioned it might be good to have a trailer to cart the sailboard gear around in. Second mate who had a boat trailer building business at the time says "Right, hold my beer".3 o'clock that morning they returned with trailer in tow. Don't ask me what size it is as it was made to what ever size the 4 closest pieces of steel were. I bought it around 25 years ago I think, and it was used as a sailboard hauler, with original soft cover, (which I used to sleep in pre family). Used and abused by most of my extended family for hauling stuff to the tip, moving umpteen houses and as general haulage for my brother in-laws floor stripping business.
It was then turned into an off road camper for about 8 years before we upgraded to a camper van. A couple of years back, I was going to swap it for my brother in laws big steel box trailer to cart my boards around. But being as this does not have any rust on it after 30 years, I decided to just give him the tent off it and added the nose cone and walls to old faithful.
Can fit 4 boards and 9 sails etc snuggly. Biggest inside is 295cm , just. That's why I had the wally converted to two piece to fit it in .
Trailers are great for keeping everything you need to take. Utes are a pain as nothing fits. I can only just get a 4.6 mast in the front and a 6.2 is about the biggest sail I can fit in the canopy.
Parking can be an issue, but if it is busy I will often unhook and lock the trailer near the water in a single spot and park the car somewhere else.
Hopefully should be good for another 30 years yet.

Buzzy, tip from one who is about to get mine fixed. Don't place any boards up on top that can drip salt water onto front area. The 100/105's are notorious for rust starting just under the screen to top rubber seal Once its starts, its not visible until its too late, and needs a good repair.
I ended up putting a roof rack arrangement on my trailer for the longer boards and SUP.
