Tomahawk: a tool for clobbering objects, consisting of a working part and an extension that is in the form of a shaft, allowing for longer reach and high velocity.

Kite: has working part that is extended by lines, and in the hands of a tool can be used to clobber objects at a distance, with long reach and high velocity.

Can't help thinking that the effort taken to create the image is disproportionately large compared to the comical content

I figured what the connection was - I am just hoping that kiters hitting people has not become so common that they now have colloquial term for it (thus belittling the importance of such behaviour)

I don't think it is very funny.

'Tomahawking' is a commonly used term in kiting.

'Clotheslining' is another.

lol.

Pretty sad then.
Interesting that windsurfing, surfing, SUP'ing, boogers, etc dont feel the need to have a special term for collecting bystanders when showing off.

Keep it 100m offshore and everyone is happy Mr 'slave

Gotta agree with the Waveslave on this one. We all need a common language so that we can all communicate and be a happy band of wind sports enthusiasts. It would be great if we had the same merry bonhomie and good will that exists in the surfing community.

So when next you arrive at your local only to find 30 ++ kiters already ripping it up you can say.
“Damn it looks like Little Big Horn out there, I hope I don't get Tomahawked”

The Flying Nun
When you see a kiter doing one of those little boosts that looks kind of neat and conservative (indicating that the rider is probably a virgin and a big fan of One Direction) you can yell out.
“nice Flying Nun dude, that landing was like a genuflection”

The Marilyn Monroe
Named after the exhibitionist and darling of the silver screen who also considered having an enema as a favourite pass-time, this is a jump where the rider ends up landing on his ass in the water.

“ Nice boost Marilyn are you going to follow that with a Spa Treatment”

Spa Treatment
Any move where the rider is dragged under water resulting in lots of bubbles and spray.

The Gallipoli
A surprising and ill-advised beach incursion usually on some rocky or difficult terrain resulting in injury or death. If the kiter is merely injured then some comment may be appropriate.
“courageous choice dude, love that Gallipoli attitude”

LOL. The tommahawk, spa treatment, and Gallipoli are all common at my local. Even had my kit tommahawked once - it was the only gear on the beach!
