The last 5 days windsurfing in sun and cloudy conditions, and face burnt too much, the sun cream I've been using is factor 30 and supposed to be ok in water for up to 4 hours, but obviously not doing the job. Does anyone have a sun cream that does the job and not too greasy etc?
zinc
also try one of the ripcurl rimmed surf hats... mines got a flap at the back that covers your neck too...
I have albino in me and black label banana boat is definetaly the way to go. My skin doctor reccommended it.
I just been lookin for this myself recently. Couldn't find tube of zinc cream
so settled on
Cancer Council Sunscreen PLUS Clear Zinc
works ok, I leave it thick on my bottom lip ![]()
also wear an Oneill surf cap (wide brim at the front).
Tkx. Will go looking for a surf hat and banana boat sun cream.
those surf hats do look like the peak blows backward though so face stil gets the sun?
Been using Banana Boat Orange for years, put it on properly when you first get to beach it lasts all session
Dezza - the fcs bucket hats are great. Brim is wide but not too wide the the brim blows back. I've been using them for the past 5 years and in conjunction with a decent sunscreen I haven't been burnt. I'm fairly fair skinned and no sunburn.
My Dermatolagist told me to use ZINC. Espeacilly on the lips . I use Banna boat as a undercoat and zinc , Have bought one of those bucket hats FCS . I am a blue eyed Blood nut but I dont get burnt if I use the above .
I wear an fcs-like hat most of the time.
Do I need zinc as well for sun reflection, i.e. lips?
I find I don't sunburn in the face with the hat, but perhaps I should reconsider...
Curious about "clear zinc"
Zinc Oxide is used to stop all the gammamicrowaveUVthingy something waves. But it is not clear.
So now they have clear but it is Zinc what? Zinc Nitrate or Hydroxide or Chloride or polybutylpercholorobenzoate? Is it as effective?

I have been using this stuff for last year and a half and it is crazy how well it works, i heard a lot of surfers raving about it then gave it a go, the only problem is that it's not super cheap but it does allow you sail for ages
i will think you find as well that sometime next year that the sunscreen labels will change and you will start to see 50+ SPF on packaging like they have in the US.
I would not put any of that crap on my skin,in a word poison.Google naturalnews sunscreen.
Wear a hat that the brim is stiff enough not to blow back. Tie it on with a lace or something.
I wear a fcs surfing hat and use orange bannana boat...put the suncream on at least 30mins b4 u hit the water....i have fair skin and i find if i do this i rarely get burnt..
Banana Boat have a new spray on 30+ spf can that works good. Best part is you dont have to get your hands all greasy (yet to find any sun stuff that says "non-greasy" and is). So great for windsurfing, SUP etc.
Have been using a bucket type hat for years along with a rashie and use Blistex lip stuff religiously.
Don't muck around, this is what you need. You will have to get it from the USA. I have never been burnt in 25 years, Iam a red head and dont wear a hat windsurfing.
Originally made for windsurfing.

The Australian UV index in winter is the equivilent of a Spainish summer , I bet my nuclea powered radation from the sun will kill you alot quicker than the poisonous sun screen any day .
+1 for Gator
Picked up gator in Maui last year and been using it ever since as well.
Great for the Face and can use it on lips. Doesnt make hands oily when you apply it.
