Nope, the x9 has a small uphaul eyelet as well, so it has a small loop out of thinner string threaded through it, which the uphaul line is then looped through.
When that little loop snapped, I started doing this. 
Alternatively, buy a North boom. The head has a great big uphaul eyelet. Unfortunately, the North head has the worst design for carbon wear (plastic ridges which produce point wear due to articulation.) Appalling really. I resorted to this.

Anyway, I flipped the head upside down (because Severne sails!) while I was at it, so the uphaul eyelet is at the top of the boom head, so I'm not using it.
