I'm sick to my stomach that we had to kill windsurfing at the Olympics in order to get in. From what I can tell, I'm not the only one. How about we take the moral high ground and do something about it?

The IKA represents our interests at ISAF. Let's ask the IKA to decline those spots on the Olympic Sailing Programme as long as Windsurfing isn't reinstated. Can you imagine the message that would send? If ISAF and the IOC are so desperate to add youth and media appeal to the Olympic Regatta, let them find a solution.

What's the worst thing that can happen? We're kicked out of the Olympics, and so is Windsurfing. But we'll be able to hold our heads high. Doesn't that count for something? And who knows, freed from the constraints that ISAF places on our sports, we might team up with our other friends on the beach (surfers, freestylers, paddlers, etc.) and carve our own path into the Olympics!

Let's show what it means to be 'brothers.' Let's stand up for each other! Please add your name to this petition:

Good post.

If it makes anyone feel any better.

Richard "The Youth" Branson lost a train contract in the UK the other day and blogged about an unfair decision process and demanded a judicial review.... he complained about a lack of government subsidies from his own tax-free island in the Caribbean.

He also heavily sponsored kiting getting into the Olympics and this flawed decision is now also subject to a judicial review. He hasn't commented on getting the other youthful energetic sport kicked out.

He got big with one of the luckiest tracks in history tubular bells AFTER saving his first business with a VAT fraud that his mum had to mortgage her house to get him out of... this was all AFTER his public school education, his dad being a barrister and his grandfather being a sir....

He ran out of money to fund his airline and had to sell his record business in 1992 BEFORE the music industry got smashed by napster (lucky again)

Send him a tweet telling him how you're disappointed in how windsurfing got kicked out with a picture of a competitors product!

@richardbranson

From his site

Delighted to announce kitesurfing has been selected as an Olympic sport. It has just been accepted by the ISAF after a 19/17 vote and there will now be kitesurfing at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

This is fantastic news for my favourite sport and kitesurfers all over the world. As we build up to what promises to be an incredible Olympics in London this summer, it is perfect timing too.

Well done to everyone who has worked tirelessly with us campaigning to get kitesurfing accepted as an Olympic sport. Can't wait to see the gold medal race in Brazil in four years time!

I have already said NO to the Olympics with Windsurfing. Rather watch the PWA live streams.

There's some truth to that - but for me, that's because the Olympic video broadcast has always been pretty lame. I thought the camera work was really engaging this time around in Weymouth. The non-stop action on the PWA live streams is great, but the cameras are way too far and way too static, in my opinion...
