Really? When did you realise? Gear at 25%-30% or retail in Oz, scant contact or business information and a cut and paste website.
Surely it can't be dodgy?

Its a very polished scam site. But if you apply the simple principle of 'it looks too good to be true' ...then it usually is!

I thought I would call his bluff and try him out.

Put in an order for about 2K worth of gear, got exchanging a few messages on emails about payment methods etc. Funny how the only payment accepted was a money transfer, asked about option of escrow but he did not do that.
Got him all excited that I would pay 60% up front and pay the rest when the goods arrive - yeah right.

Told him in the next message I was coming over and would pay him in person and pick up the gear. The silence was deafening.

Sent him another message telling him what a top guy he is for wanting to rip people off. I was not that polite in my message.

Now his email is shut down and so is the web site, this is very distressing for me as I cannot have any more fun playing with him now.

It smelt bad from the start but it does pay to check things out. It's easy to do and provides cheap entertainment. Give the scammers back what they deserve I reckon.

Unfortunately lots of people are being ripped off by scammers these days. I operate a shipping business and we have lot of retail customers. We save one every couple of weeks.

They come in to ship a phone or laptop to what I consider a suspect destination. We ask them if they have been paid an they say yes I have a confirmation email from PayPal. We urge them to check their PayPal account (some will even argue with us), and when they check there's zippo there. They're usually very grateful and a little embarrassed.

If it sounds dodgy do a quick search on the net and in most cases the scammer has already been identified somewhere.
