Azuli,
Not sure if a duration of 8+ mins constitutes a cruise, however 2.5 nautical miles at 20 knots is awesome all the same!
I think we should all post our raceboard cruising/expeditions/long speed runs to this thread, and keep it going.

I luv flying past boats way off shore. they must be thinking WTF! is he doing so far off the beach.

Nice location and looked like a great session.

We sail from Busselton to Dunsborough on occasion. About 16km each way from our launch but we could add 2-4kms on each end if we wanted. Can be as close as 200m off the beach to over a NM. Marcus likes to do big RB bear aways!

And coffee at each end if you wanted to.

This was my first attempt at combining the GPS data and video. The trip was about 17km from our club at RQYS, Manly, around Green Is and back. The trip took about 1.5 hrs, but I truncated the video to 8mins. The editing seems to take the most time.

After analysing the track data it appears that over 8 km was done at speeds over 16kns, with an average speed for the trip of 10.8kns. Coincidentally these speeds are similar to when I raced my catamaran in the Brisbane to Gladstone, a trip of 308 nm, which took about 30+ hrs.

It's been over 30yrs since I owned a raceboard and have been rediscovering their amazing versatility. Am also impressed that my 20yo F2 performs equal or better than my 2017 Phantom 377 in many situations although the Phantom may achieve higher average speeds around a race course, especially in the 10-20kn wind range.

Am looking forward to doing a few more cruises this winter and hopefully improving my video skills.
