Anyone seen this before? Am I a muppet or is it a known issue?

Platics quality seems variable on the se booms.

It's on both sides.
Wasn't sure whether to bother the lads with taking back.
Spewing, they are not cheap booms.

Return it if you can. This company needs to be held up to the mark these days. Resting on their laurels.

There was a thread on this a while ago, I had the same and the dealers had no issues replacing the boom.

That looks like an older style head? Same as you, I got mine replaced (happened within 3 months), but after the next one did it - and my longer boom went the same way I decided not to get them replaced.

On the flip-side, it's mostly cosmetic due to the plastic casing being too rigid and not allowing any flex - the plastic cracks whilst the rest of the boom performs as it should. It also allows you to keep an eye on the alum corrosion under it.

You can replace the head and clamp with a severe one rather than dump the whole boom.

As above, i have one of those and its just the plastic that cracks (unless it creaking). Mine is about 6 years old and still going strong. What peaves me more on those booms is the crappy material they use for the cleat. It corrodes and locks the rope in. Replacements are around $20 a pop for a new handle.
