Most of the competition he did when he won was quite similar to Pozo Style, where he is unbeatable.
On the other hand, with only 5 events? You have to be lucky as well, if you have a bad competiton..you are screwed!!!
He is the best sailor on the planet, overall impression he blows my mind...how he is in control of his rotation....maybe not the best surfer however, but he is young!!!! To win in a 5 events(what a shame) calendar, you have be always on the top of your game...you need a super focused athlete..like Dunkerbeck who was a robot!!!! Programmed to win, rest was detailed.
Firstly,
I agree he's a RAD sailor. super powerful and can rotate and double rotate cleanly off next to nothing.. but "best sailor on the planet" ???? ....on port tack.. when its windy.. in only a few comfortable directions... (eg. la torche wasn't comfortable enough for him, on shore starboard tack. hence 17th)
im not hating on the guy, just thinking maybe we have sensationalized the guy on his dominance of a port tack world tour.
but to be the best in the world you need to have the a full, well rounded skill set not just insanely good at one tack... eg thomas traversa..

That's true...
I think he even said himself he was caught offguard in La Torche with more onshore starboard tack waves, which wasn't expected there. I have seen him in videos he is a pretty radical sailor on starboard tack (if you remember, he was basically landing double forwards off the lip at the starboard photoshoot in Maui earlier this year). Maybe just confidence.... who knows. I know in Maui the locals slaughter everyone because of wave selection. I don't see the Euros finding the right waves unless they are guys who've spent many winters training there... I guess they are impatient to wait for the right wave.
Definitely now there's events with both tacks it's opened it up ... but the level has gone CRAZAY at the top end. Brawzinho, Traversa and Victor are on another level... Campello as well. We didn't have events this year that were as 'jump' focused. I dont believe anyone can beat Koster in the air.
"(if you remember, he was basically landing double forwards off the lip at the starboard photoshoot in Maui earlier this year)." again port tack jumping coming back in......im not saying just saying...
