Over the Vertigo and gearing up for next season. Have a 9.5m Severne RB sail... getting a longer boom, but will stick with my much-loved Speed 250L RB. It might be slower than a Phantom, but these throwback videos from summer shows it's still a bloody fast board... and plenty fast enough for me to enjoy the occasional race in Sydney / Rodd Point / NSW RB Series, etc... with Sydney-based RB racers... as well as blasting on the lake here in Canberra and making yacht toast.

Also wondering how others are doing on their foiled-up RBs? I been thinking about you guys.

Bit cold here now but I'm still sailing through the winter on nice days - although I rigged up & sailed in the rain one day last week as the wind was better.

... Which reminds me: Big congrats to those who represented Australia in the 2019 European RB Championships held in freezing conditions in Czechia last month.

See you next season.

Regards to all,
Zoltan

Hey Zoltan! Good to see youre back on the water mate.
So was there a magic cure for the vertigo for you?
Or just ol fashioned time n patience?
No wind for months here in sunny SE Qld.
Long live the Speed RB

Thanks guys. I bought a second foil - Slingshot H2, 85cm mast - so will be able to mount them both in the CB slot. Starboard GT 75cm in front... Slingshot at rear with mast in front position of fuselage and most of fuselage trailing behind the CB slot.

RE: the Starboard foil setup, I went dalek-bazooka on strengthening it: M8 bolts & dowel nuts ground down to size; M8 stainless steel threaded rod & marine grade stainless steel tube sleeve; M8 security head bolts from bunnings: 20mm wide x 80cm long nylon rectangular rod to wedge into the CB slot to take all the tensile & twisting forces off the bolts and transfer & dissipate them to the board.

Thanks to Imax1 & olskool for all your advice on all this. I've cherrypicked the best of the best of the best and will slowly put the dual foil setup together for testing & report back to the group.

Best, Zoltan ;))

Double foils?? Post some pics of this !! So two whole setups into the cb case? Whats your thoughts on how it will perform? Possibly lift onto the foils in a horizontal plane? Would the front setup create too much turbulence for the trailing foil? Maybe a much longer fuselage with a traditional wing setup?

Yep... 2 setups. I think it's only possible because of the flexible Slingshot foil mast positioning and extra length. Thinking about it again, maybe the longer mast Slingshot needs to go in front & Starboard GT at rear. The 10cm difference in mast length should make that possible.

I said a few months ago it will be a BITCH to turn, but should get earlier levitated flight at about half the usual speed of ~12 knots... maybe 8-10 knots.

I doubt turbulence will be a problem given the mast height difference.

Time will tell lol
