I have been collecting some footage over various trips and thought it was high time to get a compilation of Chopper / Nuevo footage together.

Most of this is Ben in action with the usual helmet cam work from myself.

I really wanted the viewer to be able to feel how the board works - hopefully the video goes some way towards expressing how "surfy" these boards are to ride.

Here is some background:

Many of you here probably know that Nude sailboards are making some great custom boards.

Ben Severne has had a lot of input into the shapes - the most popular one would have to be the Chopper design- a sweet twin fin which many of the top riders in OZ are now using.

I noticed something was up a couple of years ago when Ben started raving about a new shape - and suddenly his wave riding performance went through the roof. I tried his 90 at Corros and was instantly hooked

These shapes also caught the attention of Starboard who have set up a signature range called the "Nuevo" - (see what they did there?)

I have had a few goes on the Nuevo 80 (which has just come out)-and its a sick production wave slayer for sure - fast and incredibly surfy.
The 80 will fill out a 2 board quiver beautifully with my custom Chopper 90 (which i absolutely love to bits) - The boards have an incredible range of use.

The 90 will handle 6.2 to 4.7 , The 80 will do 5.5 - 4.0 easily.

There are basically 2 options - off the shelf instant gratification - or go custom (and i reccomend your own crazy spray job from Jase - which is really cool).

The first Nuevo review is out in the mags - from the German surf mag

here are some of the comments:

A board that won't have to fear any kind of competition in clean conditions. "It transfers so easy from rail to rail, you hardly use any force at all. It's the best thing that I've ever surfed"; a flabbergasted reviewer stuttered

SURF-recommendation:
An incredible board for light winds and clean waves - from knee high to up to 2 meters.

We are very proud of the great work being done in OZ - and again i reckon this has the ability to show the world that oz can lead the way in equipment design (even if we have lost the ability to have a dominant Aussie on the tour like back in the good old days when Scotty or Pozza would be getting on podiums )

Great vid Matt and some awesome sailing. I know what you are saying about the Choppers that proto you and Ben gave me last year was awesome for such a loose board with smaller fins and less volume it planed up pretty quick.
So I am after a cheap 90 if anyone has one....
