Howdy!

Looking for some new gear, or maybe just like browsing new toys in the Buy & Sell?

A new filtering system is now ready, which makes it really easy to find / browse gear.

Keen to get your feedback on if it's good enough to go live.

If you're interested, visit the test site at :

www.seabreeze.com.au/classifieds/default.aspx

Look for the feedback tab on the right, to report errors / improvements / oversights / free beer / ... .. or post here!

(p.s. This is the new replacement for the 'mega search')

Hey laurie, can you upload photos to the buy or sell from a pad or phone yet? That would be a really helpful addition.

Don't like it sorry

(1) it misses keywords same as the current one does (which never seemed to be an issue previously?) EG I have recently searched for "mfc" with no results and I know it is there cos it is in MY advert

(2) you can't do a search over more than one category at a time. LIke I wanna buy a Combat wave. Currently I go to "Windsurfing ---> all " and search for "Combat". Then it gives me ones listed in sails, but also for ads listed in boards where the seller is also selling boards an just happened to bung in the text "BTW I am also selling a Combat wave...."
In the new one I have to select a category and then search.
So for me to properly exhasutively search for my MFC fin or my Combat wave, I need to do at least 3 searches (in sails, board, and accessories) for those words, then another 3 for Maui or Neil pryde to be safe

A year or so ago it was perfect, I find the latest incarnation poor and your beta worse
Sorry :(

True .. sorry 3 chars is too little, needs 4 or more. .. appears it's not searching the description .. shall investigate

If that's the worst you can find, that's good news.

When you say the "old system" was better .. which old system? The keyword search, or the "mega search" dialog?

With the new system, you could also click "Windsurfing", then click "Maui Fin Company" - no typing at all .. (www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Browse/Windsurfing/Maui-Fin-Company/?search=0BZmezxV2pvU!4!6IiKfAg6tOisGYIYwyoptwB3GlF0=)

p.s. You still running Windows XP?

Laurie I meant the old one where the search was the same but you didn't have to click mega search it was on the page already - so about 6mths ago?
That seemed to return more results - maybe it is just the description search thing.

Yes still XP and you know what - I dont care cos it works. I am bemused by the fact we spent years getting a standard so everything works and now every time there is a change they bemoan the fact it doesn't work. I don't envy you trying to make it work on 100 different devices whn it used to be only PC and Mac. I buy it after they iron out the wrinkles
Phones for phonin' and 'puters for computin'

Thats what my grand dad says.
If you buy software waiting till all the wrinkles are gone,,its too late because it is no longer compatable with the new standard.
Phones are for phonin has been old fashion thinking for 10 years now. Alot of pople dont have landlines in their homes anymore because they are obsolete, the same with how your home computer is (will be very soon)cause you can do it all on the one device(mobile).
Why have a landline phone, home internet service and a mobile phone? when you will (can) do it all on one device for cheaper????
Dont be scared of change for the better, just keep up with it as it makes life easier.

Everything works on XP
Every minor change made here has resulted in pages of "it won't fit on my screen" blah bah and on my PC it has been just fine. Every time, for 8yrs.
same service, don't need to use it on the bus or in the dunny, so why change...?

Bah haa ha ha
Ask me that in 2 years lol.

Or if you are running alot of new software now that has never heard of XP as it is nearly phased out as its ancient and out of date for TODAYS products.
Its like all the people that said they will never upgrade to a digital tv, "dont need it, what a joke"....
but its progress,,,you do need it and you dont have a choice in the end.

All looks good and working well here Laurie, good on ya's for keeping it all up to date.

I think you are 100% right. XP was and is stable. I think they had to struggle hard to bring out subsequent versions of windows that had any better features, and in doing so I think that they made them worse, just so as to be different.

I am using Windows 7 now, but only because there seem to be things that insist on something newer than XP. I customise Win7 to be as close to XP as I can anyway. I don't know why they just hid half of the tools that you use, as a lot of them are still there.

Thanks for your help Mark .. you'll find you can just type in "mfc" in the quick search now, and the results are there, including yours.

Likewise, you can just type in "combat" without needing to choose any categories, and it returns the results over multiple categories.

A really subtle oversight on our behalf, and appreciate your help in pointing it out.

On my profile why does it list items I have recently sold with items I've never owned or sold?

With both the new and existing buy-n-sell, seems you have to select 'boards' or 'sails', etc first, then once you get into the next window you can select 'All Windsurfng', why can't you just select 'all windsurfing' first up?
