Hey Bone,
yeah, what a hoot. Used to be a pub & what-have-you at Dolls Pt, Sans Soucy to be exact.
Was not even drinking age then.
Used to be a windsurfing school there, run by one Jony-something. Sponsored by Rick from Rocky Pt Road.
And a really good pub on Sunday arvos, saturday was OK too.
The Saturday night pub was a bit rough though, the Intersection in Ramsgate was better then - more classy (????).
You'd sail in to McMorelands, from whatever - Ramsgate, even Brighton, or the St-George's river club.
OK racing on Friday night too, til it died, circa 1984. Too many classes after that - Mistral, F2, and left-handed metros with green sails - too many.
We'd all moved to Wanda by then.
Please note a name correction of Mick Moylans & some very recent history from the local newspaper www.theleader.com.au/story/266600/link-lost-with-historic-moylans-family-pub/
How true you are in stating it was the place to be sailing & racing up until late 1984. Nowadays there is not one windsurfer sailing out of this spot. After 1984 St George Sailing Club became the place to race longboards, and that tradition still exists to-day. Those that moved onto short boards all seemed to gravitate to Wanda as you mentioned.
Wow, all these years and did not even know if was spelt thusly !
Don't remember the name was written anywhere (no coasters?).
Incredible...
Yeah Pierre, one Jony-something must be me. The windsurfing school at Sans Souci seems like a lifetime ago.
How the hell are you?
JJ (GPS - Pinnaroos)
Wow, 3 huge jolts in a short time.
First some 10 years ago I drive by the South Shore and no Mc-whatever - seemed like a geriatric place now??
Then I learn I spelt it wrong the whole time.
Then I hear from JJ ! (which apparently I also spelt wrong) Wow.
Sent ya a PM..
