Is it just trail and error to get the length or is there a recipe..I assume I just need a bit of heavy string with a loop one end to go over my harness hook and tie the other to the uphaul?
Done my back in and not sure what caused it but I figure once it gets better this will help me lift the 7.2m up with more safety.

Honesty after cutting and splicing lines etc you might as well buy the real thing.

There is also an end of boom float that may help keep things light.

Hope your back rights itself.

The Ezy-uphaul has a buckle and webbing that is adjustable to suit. This is the length between the boom and the point where the harness loop and base loop are attached.

Other than that, it has the rope you loop into attached at a fixed.

Experiment if you want, but I thought they were relatively cheap?

I'm buying one..usually I wouldn't bother but the way my back is I don't want to take more risks than necessary.I often prefer to uphaul the 7.2m cammed sail .Even if its 15kts + .It often falls to leeward and by the time I swim it around , get it up, flip it and pop the cams and its easier to uphaul .Without the easy uphaul it is a challenge for me to be able to get it up when its blowing.

Mm now I'm thinking about the easy waterstarter.. Cripes I must be getting old..
Hope it's better by Fri as its supposed to blow..wishful thinking?

I been thinking about gin pole long time ago ( when up- houling was my daily routine .
Attachede at mast base 1 m stick that support uphouling line and changing angle
of the pulling forces will make uphouling much easier.
When unused pulled back to mast by rubber line
Technically quite easy to made but my only concern is safety,
Any rigid objects sticking of the board could have you impaled in worst scenario.
Unless that could be solved No gin pole on windsurfing boards.

when one of my uphaul ropes gave out, i purchased an EZ-uphaul
i use it with my 10-oh race sail that has a wide luff
if the luff fills with water it is almost impossible to pull out of the water
i hook the loop on my harness and slowly raise the sail so the water runs out
once semi out of the water, i can pull on the sail with my hands and the loop removes itself from my buckle
i still need to do some minor adjustments, butt it saved me today in zero degree weather
too cold and too tired to uphaul
it cost me just a little more than the regular uphaul and it has saved my back at least twice
that for me means it was a worthwhile investment !!!
