Another longboard back from the dead, had this for a bit, it was in pretty bad shape, de-laminating in a number of places and full of holes.

Was keen to get it sorted as I have plans for one of my kids to race it in the up coming Nationals in just over a week. It will hit the water for the first time in I don't know how many years tomorrow. Hopefully it all holds together.

Next board on the resto list is a D2, no idea of the maker, I think its a custom but it looks kinda cool, very different to anything I have seen before

It has the number 900130 so I am guessing that's 1990, I have a 1990 MOD and circa 1995 F2 Lightning. We are going to line them all up next week for some upwind and downwind speed testing and see which two my kids want to take to the RB National's. Should be good fun and interesting to see which boards they pick.

Moz, the SR250L still sits n the rack. Definately a mega amount of work to rebirth that ol girl. Have peeled all the nasty sika from the rails. Omg what a mission.

Cammd, will be interesting to hear their preference. Over the past 3 years Ive plonked my 100kg on all of those boards. My observations. IMCO in light winds was slower than other two, but in high wind n rough water the easiest to control. Narrower tail sits in the water. Lightning n Speed are similar to plane in the light stuff. Very similar in tail shape. The Speed is however a stiffer board. Those hard rails get you planing early but make turning harder. The Lightning may be the better Alrounder, easy to plane easy to turn, points well. All these boards can be pushed to over 25kts.
For me just blasting on a reach the locally made SPEED is the winner.
However in less than 15kt none of the above compare to the Starboard 380 i have. Its now my most sailed RB for GB conditions. Super early to plane. But a handfull over 18kt. Thats when the ol Speed comes into its own.

Amen olskool !
Had the Speed 250L RB out in 20-22 knot easterly from 6:00 - 8:30pm yesterday with old 8.5m Arrows race sail on the foil and blasted around the lake nearly all that time.

Is there an open class at the 2019 RB Nationals at Myall Lakes from 19 Jan that would let me test this setup against similar RB on fin alone? There are a lot of rules and I ain't gonna read 'em so hoping someone will know already please.

If not I'm thinking of heading up anyway and "following / watching" the approved racers ;D

ZoltanL, can you organise any footage of the flight of the Speed 250? Itd be sweet to see it on the wing.

Got 2 hrs of GoPro video to review & edit tonight. I have a short flight & touchdown on vid!

Also remember I use the foil as a winged keel for extra lift, reduced drag and maybe greater speed. But maybe a speed RB on normal 36cm US box fin alone would blitz me. That's what I'd like to test at the RB Nationals.
