Okay.... was just thinking the other day how it would be cool to listen to music while out on the water..... I know you use your ears for wind direction etc, but has anyone done this? And how?

Concerned you'll smash components into your ear drums

Is there an emoticon for flame suits?

Can't see why not, my wife has waterproof earphones and mp3 player that she uses while swimming. As for the ear damage, my helmet covers my ears.

not really a good idea, it pays to be aware of your surroundings with all you senses otherwise you might get a bit of a shock to your sense of touch when you collide with someone who was trying to warn you by yelling. kiters wear 'em - enough said. do what sail hack suggests and sing

They done it in the early eighties with the sony walkman,it never took off..Rev up with your tunes befor you hit the water, then play them in your head to the moves you do,,,,,,Groove rider!

I guess that disproves the theory of wearing earplugs under helmets....of course i'd rather listen to the wind as I can't turn my head.

I have a unit called a SwiMP3 made by Fins. I got it from a swimmers shop in Gordon, Sydney. It has a velcro arm band and is a totally waterproof unit. It only holds about 50 odd songs so not a lot but enough to get you by. I use it windsurfing as well as SUPing. Works great and I have never had an issue with not being able to hear someone or something because of listening to music at the same time.

Your vision is badly hindered trying to look through that little plastic window as it is,,,Dont block your hearing as well. Half blind and half deaf is not a good combination.

I'm using these 'Aftershokz' for stand up paddling and I'm sure they'd be also very good for windsurfing.

Because they don't go in your ears they let you hear everything around you and don't effect you balance... I'm loving them..
