G'day all, For all of of my fellow interstate and international windsurfers, This is Jimmy's Beach in beautiful Port Stephens, NSW/AUS. The wind in this movie starts off a bit light but no matter, I Brought along my fibreglass aircraft carrier and it freshens up a bit later on. The water at Jimmys is usually crystal clear and blue but due to our recent big wet it is a bit murky at the moment.
At about 8.00 minutes to 8.45 I appear to be gliding along in almost glassy water, it's a bit deceiving as I am picking little gusts off the shore that are carrying me along. You may notice I keep glancing over my shoulder to keep and eye on them. You can just make out the gusts on the right hand edge of the picture.
If you make it to the end of the movie you may hear me say "I'm really sorry". I am apologising to a couple of black shag birds I kept disturbing all day. I must have scared them off over 20 times by the end of the day. I was starting to feel like a bit of a eco terrorist.
I hope you enjoy the movie of one of my very favourite spots on earth.
Nice relaxing video, thanks for sharing Cluffy
. Certainly a great choice of board for such light conditions!
I'm yet to sail down there. I've heard lots of good things so it's definitly on the hit list of "Must visit" locations. Just need a few more nor-easters before Autumn sets in...
PS- Could you tell me what sized sail, and how heavy you are? And also how strong was the wind that day? Thanks mate.
Great vid Cluffy! What's the Superlightwind like? I was originally thinking of getting one for those light days, but decided against it as I have a habit of chop-hopping when I see a small ramp & I was told they damage easily. I ended up with an older Fanatic (shark).
I was also told that the JPs were a bit too formula-ish style? After having owned a JP Xcite 165lt a couple of years ago (that I miss), I'm keen to find (for my next board) a light-wind board that can handle some rough stuff also.
Hi,
just a suggestion but most windsurfing first person videos of one particular sort view are usually best for two to three minutes at the most. In that time you have shown all thats happened.
The video footage is enhanced if it shows accidents or sailing in close proximity with other windsurfers. Also putting the action to a soundtrack and synchronising the video to the audio, makes it better.
I have never sailed at hawks nest but I will get up there next season. Looks like a good place for a blast. Bye the way I enjoyed your movie Pic. ![]()
sorry Phil I missed your question. The sail is a 9.6 and I am 80 kg's. The breeze started out light at about 10 to12 knots but freshened to about 20 later on.
Moby, the movie is definitely way too long at 15 minutes but it was actually for my own archives and instead of making a shorter one I decided just to link this one. I figure people rarely watch YouTube movies to the end and they will stop when they have seen enough . I've done a couple of flicks with music but I'm not really up to synchronising yet.
