Ive got this skin condition on my hand that every time my hand gets wet my fingers all swell up and then all the skin falls off just leaving my hands bleeding flesh . Its quit painfull but the mental agony i have been suffering when its windy as i cant get my hand wet at least is now offset because ive taken up windskating .Im seeing the skin specialist tomorrow .Last time i was there they said i could be allergic to something & the only thing i can think that im doing different is more housework as my partner is now working nights.
I try to get home early enough to take kids down the park with me if its windy & they ride skateboards ripsticks etc or play on swings & thats great as otherwise i would hit the water & thats 40min drive they wouldnt be coming with me so maybe this really annoying painful experince is good .But i was wondering if anybody else every had similar & if so what triggered it off & what cured it .
I can now do 360 on skateboard & duck gybe so i cant wait to get in water again & see if i can do it on my boards.

See what the doctor says. Perhaps something simple like wearing washing up gloves will help unless you are getting a reaction from the gloves.

I know nothing about the condition and am wary of anything that is on the net, but maybe its a bit like this?

If it turned out to be an allergy, that may be the easiest to sort out.

As I said, I might look stuff up on the net for myself, but would keep in mind that the information may be unreliable and its easy to end up thinking you have something because a few of the symptoms are the same - many conditions could have the same symptoms, so its always best to be getting medical advice specific to you from a professional.

Sorry for the drawn-out warning, but its best to be very cautious.

I don't know anything - just got a child with severe eczema and the specialist helped a lot - has your doc referred you to a dermatologist or allergist yet?
I could not think of anything worse than what has happened to you, at least when I was miserable due to bad injuries in summer I knew it was only a few months and I was back into it. So condolences...

Just out of interest though, is it fresh or salt water, always sailing at same spot or have u tried others, new boom? Anything changed in general life like a new detergent at home or geez, anything...?

Tried a good moisturiser everywhere (twice a day) and an anti-histamine for when symptoms present? That is usually the doc's first suggestion....

Do NOT just throw any cream on it. Talk to a dermatologist. A lot of the substances in different skincare products, even most of the "healthy, eco, no nothing in it", can trigger allergic reactions depending on disorder. Gloves can also makes it worse.

I am guessing it is a barrier cream they gave u? If you go to any worksafe shop they sell really good barrier creams for use when dealing with chemicals, they keep anything from hitting the skin. I worked for a pharmaceutical company and used them all the time

Diagnosis and cure will come in good time, but for the time being I would strongly recommend refraining from pulling the pud.

I had a similar problem, turned out to be an allergy to soap and detergent.

Washing up gloves help a lot, try as many body washes as you can until you find one that doesn't provoke the condition (get one that doesn't have any perfume or detergents in it), don't use shampoo.

Good luck sorting it out.
