1.5 mins to the local (Deception Bay) if I ever decide to sail there (Have to try it one day).
30-40mins to Sandstone Point (Main Sailing Spot).
25mins to Beachmere then rig up on the inlaws backyard.
For the guys that sail at "White Rock/Makaha" on the north side of Long Reef in Sydney, the journey by car can be anywhere from 2km to 30+km.
However, when you get to the Lookout carpark, you still have to carry your gear 700m to get to the rigging spot.
Definitely warms the body up before you start sailing
IMO, it's still one of the best places to sail (for wave jumping), especially when there's swell !
Yikes ... I'm 50 minutes to any beach in Brisbane. Then often driving 1 - 1+1/2 hours to the various coasts ... That doesn't include when you get brutalised in evening traffic on the way home. argghhh
5 min,36 seconds to Trial Bay.
i believe there is a concept of "real time" and "perceived time"
i measured the real one once - about 20 minutes to the Park
however, it seems like i phase out and go in windsurf mode on the way
you know - like when you do not remember parts of a trip - mind was somewhere else
i seem to wake up about 2 minutes from the Park gate and it is 2 minutes from there to the beach
{my humble apologies to everyone i upset while driving in this stupor }
then - what feels really long is - deciding what to use - rigging it and carrying it to the beach
that's about a 50 to 100 meter walk from the carpark
to make matters worse - water level has been low
so, kiters are close to shore and windsurfers walk another 200 meters in the water $%^&*()
others in the area - live near the beach - 5 minute drive
some go 3 hours to Quebec City or Kingston
i like to keep it under one hour - ideally less then 30 minutes !!!
cuz if you get there and you cannot go
{due to change in conditions or missing parts #$%^&*}
20 min or 90 min depending on whether another truckie has wedged his oversized rig into one of the eastern distributor tunnels.
It does depend if it is from home or work but from home:
10 min to river (Melville beach)
10-15 min to river2 (Pelican point - only straight from work)
20-25 mins to Woodies
30-40 mins to Safety Bay
Yet to give all the easterly spots ago (i.e. Pt Walter, Majestic Point etc) - just got back into it after a long leave of absence.
90% of the time I go to Penguin Island / Safety Bay (Carlisle St and the The Pond).
We have it pretty good in Perth
All these times are dependent upon the traffic which around Sydney usually consists of roads turning into parking lots.
45 minutes to Narrabeen Lake
Around an hour to Pittwater
A bit under and hour to Kyeemagh
A bit over an hour to Canton Beach
So close to nowhere but on the whole that's okay. I have a 10 to 15 minute walk to work and it hasn't been windy in Sydney for months.
1 min to Maroubra Beach
10 mins to Kyeemagh
35 mins to Kurnell
70 mins to Lake Illawarra
90 mins to Canton Beach
