Obviously I'm not going to smash a bottle of champagne over it. Perhaps I should pour a little over it and drink the rest?

Ideas welcome.

edit: apparently I should sacrifice an ox, and it needs a female sponsor.

Wait til it's +25knts and go for a sail. Afterwards, share a few frothies with yer mates and rub it in how good your new boards is.
Don't wash the salt off if it.
Take it home, kick the missus out of bed and sleep with it in your comfy bed.

More importantly.... WHERE are you going to launch it & when.

It's a long weekend, ya gotta do it.

I have done this, and I know of at least 2 or 3 others that have also done the same.

Nothing brings you back to earth quite as quickly as seeing you new and expensive toy with a big crack through the nose that is completely of your own doing.

No piece of equipment is fully run in until it has a 'function mark'
