What do you get when you cross a camelbak, a broken boom and some offcut Alu Panel? A poor man's Whizmount
(Cheap Chinese Action camera also required)
Stu that's awesome!! Love the massive chop hops on way back, that run across the lake looks huge
Great job
Nice new sail as well
Banging clip. Awesome point of view, really captures the feel of fanging.
Some great boosts in there.
Ha ha - looked like it was a great gybe with a slight cut then I noticed - before the cut the camera mount is dry - after the cut it's wet
Good work

Ha Ha very observant, there was more than one swim edited out of that clip. Hey that run is a good 10mins return (without swims) song only goes for 4mins
Yeah! Sweet clip, love the slalom hops and the great camera angle. And had to smile at early Metallica. They have certainly changed since 1983!
and NO shaking or instability !!!
how did you "mount" the boom to the "camelbak" ??
NICE job and run !!!
leave some swimming to show us mere mortals like us/me who spend time in water too

Great Vid would love to see how you made the mount and what it looks like.
I used the front end of an old boom. I bolted it to the center of a piece of Alu panel which I cut to fit snug into the camelbak (bladder removed) I also used a bit of rubber from an old harness, which I just taped to the panel for a bit of extra padding. A couple of light bits of cord to secure the mount into camelbak and the camera to both. The camera is mounted to the boom with a mount/clamp i had already. I think its called a Freak mount (or something) got it off ebay. I didn't get too
carried away with quality of the job as I wasn't sure how well it would work but I went better than expected. I will probably tweak it a bit when i get time. Id like to use a piece of PVC pipe or similar in the boom as a fail safe point so it would break in a big crash, particularly for speed sailing in shallow water.
Cheers Stu
appreciate the photos and explanation, will have to see what I can conjure up myself.
Would be great to see what different sorts of mounts people are using and making out there.
Well done mate.
