Still researching before I buy..Is there somewhere secure you can clip or a leash? I had a quick look at one in the shop .It had 2 small rectangular openings that you could maybe thread something through but the salesman muttered something about maybe it was the microphone..? He didn't seem that clue.
I don't want to risk losing something that expensive using a stick on connection.

GoPros have endless options for attachments that you can buy with the camera. As far as what is included, it comes attached to the box in a simple black case with 2 holes on the bottom (pictured) that I'm sure you can attach a leash to somehow. If you're getting a GoPro I recommend just spending a little bit more at that point and getting an attachment that suits your specific wants. Overall, I love my Hero 5.

Mount wise, check the FLYMOUNT. Its good n strong. Seems durable (12months of epic beginner stacks).

Thanks. Yes I'm going to look at extras but just wanted to be sure there was some point on the camera itself where I could secure a leash as backup.

All GoPros have leash connection points on the casing.

I am trying another alternative.

I had great results with the Liquid Image Skiing Video Goggles for videoing windsurfing, but they prooved not to be waterproof enough to last.



They are fantastic for Skiing and motorcycle riding though!

I had seen that Liquid Image were advertising that they were developing a 'swimming goggle camera', but they never seemed to be available from their website as I kept checking. Then, this year Liquid Image appears to have gone broke and stopped production, but I found some of the swimming Camera goggles on E-bay advertised very cheap and ordered them. They just arrived and they look like they will be excellent and are a lot more waterproof as one would expect. I'm yet to actually try them for windsurfing. Hopefully soon.

In the picture below, the camera lens is folded back on the top side with the headband hinge. (1080 @ 30fps or 720 @ 60fps.) Around 1 hr continuous recording, same as the skiing goggles. Worth a try as they cost me less than $80.

On the hero3 you attached the tether to the metal hinge on the back door ie close the back of the camera and thread the string between the metal rod/hinge & case and out again & then thread itself through th loop and pull tight. The tether is attached to the anchor point the same way, but first.

just check the floating back actually works with the bolt and mount attached as mine would not float with the extra weight

You attach stuff using the Frame. You can secure the Frame with a thin tether threaded through the back door hinge. It's quite difficult to do.

Here are the camera mount & GoPro tether mount in my helmet.
If my camera comes off-crash or loose fixing the tether holds it and I'll feel it on my helmet bouncing around.
Sorry no picture of set up as I've sold my camera. Looking to get a session sometime.

mine is tethered directly to my helmet


did NOT tether this and lost a GoPro 3
stick broke when trying to go help a kiter in need - lesson learned ??

I don't trust the stick on mount..I want to attach it to the camera plus the gear as another line of support ( plus something like that..). You'd think they'd have an easy point to tie something onto the actual camera..grr
