This has convinced me to come check the place out. Are the winds there consistently sailable or was this simply a good day?

What kind of drone was it? I'm guessing a lot of the cheaper ones won't hold up in a strong wind?

Yuppy I look at NSW/Illawarra section in sea breeze. The Gerringong true reading is quite often a lot lower than shown due to position of anemometer. Forecast is for Pt Perpendicular which is about 50km south but a pretty good indicator. Gerroa has a large escarpment behind it meaning any sea breeze sort of runs into a rock wall and funnels down the coast. The shape of land encourages the wind to blow a NE direction at the slightest prompt. Quite often you notice the sea breeze starting to pick up from 10am in the summer. This is the view about 1km inland and 2km north of Gerroa looking West. Best conditions are the first couple of days normally after a Southerly, so I tend to leave it a bit longer than that being a wavesailing kook.

That was disappointing.

The video didn't run for anywhere near long enough.

Keep up the good work.

Out of interest, any gear hire up that way? I'll be driving past in a rental motorhome in April and I could pull the old "look, dear, they rent windsurf gear!!" trick. I might be able to pull off a couple of days stopover.

Thanks dean.

Seabreeze Illawarra for wind.

Do you use swellnet gerringong for waves?

Hi Yuppy,

No just the Mark 1 eyeball. I actually work on the water so I pretty much know what the swell is doing most of the time. I'm not much of a wave sailor having done mainly GPS etc over the last few years so I don't actually chase big swell due to limited skills.
