Just after some info in fins, I am only still pretty new to all this so please excuse my stupidity.
I have a JP X-Cite Ride 120 it came with a 33 weed fin. I was thinking about getting a freeride fin as most places I sail a weed fin isn't necessary.
What would be the pros and cons going from the weed fin which is all I have used to a freeride fin? And what would be good size fin? I weigh 80kgs, my sails are 5.5m, 6m and the one I use the most is a 7.2m the board is 256 x 68.5
Cheers

Had the 110 and the 130 X-cite. fins that go well are Choco 32 and 34 on these size boards. There are other brands out there. The JP are normall OK, but dont get the old style black ones, only use the G10 material type fins.
Where are you located in WA?

If you don't have weed then definitely get yourself a standard fin. You will find that the board will point better, plane earlier and go upwind with less effort.

I am in Perth and mainly sail at the normal spots on the Swan.
The fin I have now is a old style black JP 33

I agree that a pointer is better in most instances, but hang onto that weedy because some seasons you need it in the river for the next couple of months.
