I know i'm not the only one with a stupid number of fins so those that do what's your setup? I just had them in box, it wasnt a great thing anyway cause could never find particular size or type i wanted.

So who has what out there?

I've now got four filleted fins. I'm still trying to figure the best way to store/transport them.

ordinary fins are divided into two groups that change with the season. Ones I'm likely to use and ones unlikely. The unlikely ones are in a case, the likely ones in a fin pouch. I've toyed with the idea of a fin rack in the wagon, somewhere out of the way, but easy to select the fin you want. Hasn't happened in the 6 years I've had it. But the advent of the fangy fillet may get me more motivated.

You could design something like a knife holder like you find in a kitchen and rack'em in your wagon or toolbox with drawers like a sidcrome or get a big pencil case. Just a few ideas

a 40L ish plastic box from red dot holds extensions, bases, little box with screws, screwdrives and all that jazz.
if you drill holes in each end and thread bungee cord thru about 20x it makes like stringy spacers to hold all the fins upright against one side.

I got my fins down to 20 and bought 2 fin bags. 10 in each one, easy peasy

I use trawler bins. Tuttle one side Powerbox the other. Biggest fins. against edge of bin. Smaller/ crappy fins central.Separated by extensions etc. Fins in covers otherwise they chip n knock together. Screwdrivers thru top lip of bin. Its amazing how much stuff ends up in there.

The amount of fins you seem to go through , you could open a finnery , a place fin destroying folk could feel safe

In my defense Imax1, ive only lost one n that was due to poor manufacture. Wont name em but others guys all guess which brand. Will show ya. Yep,n yesterday i totalled my Raceboard finbox. 50cm fin n sandbars just dont play nicely.My Supersport fin now sits in the board like a weedy. Too funny

I feel your pain , on the weekend I saw a guy push his head through his sail while popping his camms in the shallows.
Ive done this .
Every time I'm carrying my sail back to the car I'm dealing with the devil. It's ok with the 4m wave sailing crew , but when it's 9.5 and blowing there is dangerous head pressure and it hurts on the batten !

Fairly easy (if you have the tools) on a benchtop router. Also seen some plastic racks in bunnings, that would do the same job.

When I only wavesailed, My wife and I had 5 fins between us.

The problem with too many fins is the same as with too many boards or too many sails. You constantly wonder if you should be using a different size.

What about filling the 40literish box with barbecue skewers (standing upright) or something similar?
It would make for a sort of knife holder, but on a scale suitable for fins.
I appear to be unable to get a pic in here at the moment, but some of you might know the knife holders I mean.
This should be quite a versatile construction able to accomodate the ever-changing quiver of fins one usually carries around in duffle bags.

Ive not bothered to count for a while but there maybe 50 fins. I dont find that at all, I know exactly which fin-sail-board combo I use, only time I dont know is if I get a new board size. If it low tide I tend to take my older fins. Then there fins for wave (us & powerbox), speed, spweed, freeride, sup/windsup etc. Some boards are getting crazy fin sensitive now & are bad with wrong fin, so just felt there no point selling when in a year or two that new board doesnt like your favorite fins. Some are content with just 2 or 3 sails & 1 or 2 boards. I like to use alot of different gear so sails from 4.5-10m & boards 48-85cm.

Have been using trawler tub, had racks in my trailer when i less fins had took a bit to get right as it surprising how quick weight adds up in fins. There are those fin pods I used in past but they use zips, why any company uses crappy zips around water??? Maybe it is a good reason to get out the router.

I have a Bunnings plastic tool box with a modified dish drying rack inside. The modification is the dish rack is cut in half.

allyou need to do is open the lid and all fins are visible. So just drop the fin in or pull out of the rack. Works well, been using it for years

Simple, inexpensive and effective and drains well. Hold up to 40 cm fins. Strong enough to carry them all in.
A coated metal drawer for a storage unit from Bunnings.
If you have a racking system in your van you could just slide it in.
Hasn't shown any signs of rust and I've been using it for some years.
