I have been sailing with a seat harness ever since I started. They are not the most trendy things to be seen in, but so far, so good. I like them, feel comfortable in them, and other than the occasional spreader bar replacement, they have been good.

Yesterday I went out and made an effort to use a waist harness I bought a couple years ago when I left mine at home.

I hated it! I have a bit of a beer gut happening, and this darn thing just made me feel smothered.

I changed back to the seat harness after an hour or two, and straight away I felt way more comfortable, and surprisingly, way more in control. Do you get used to them, or should chubby people like myself just stick to seat harnesses?

...or option B, should I just get back on the diet train?

Go the waist harness. Holds all the fat in, you look slimmer so you will get heaps of chicks following u around at the beach.

Nah, I really like the seat harnesses I have. So much so, that when I found one the same as mine, I bought it as a backup.

After the Guy Cribb clinic, he was suggesting that blokes should be wearing waist harnesses and girls should be wearing seat harnesses. I am not sure of the actual reasons, but I thought I'd give it a go, because I've got one anyway.

I am still not sure if its what I am used to, or if there are good reasons. I suspect that maybe wave sailing might be better with a waist harness, but I don't do that.

Mark, I have too many girls following me around the beach anyway. I don't need anymore They may or may not be chasing me because I ran into their kites though...

Actually Guy was saying that beer guts keep the harness from sliding up, so you should drink more and exercise less...
I also went to the clinic, but still prefer the seat harness, for blasting is the best. Only issue it is more restrictive and heavier, I did a few holes in the lining to help drain the water more quickly after waterstarting.

i just moved from waist to seat harness cause I mostly do slalom, I really enjoy the position it allows. And weight wise my seat harness is soooo much lighter (same brand : prolimit)

have a look at a flying objects transit waist/seat combo harness. I have one aswell as a standard seat harness and find it great. High hook with no ride up.It's a win win on all accounts.

I love my pure girl seat harness but one thing that annoys me is that the leg straps can lengthen and then it rides up. I get it as tight as I can after its wet and tie a know as close to the buckles as I can to stop it slipping but it still does at times.
It is a bit big so I have modified it which may be affecting the angle of the dangle but someone else who's harness wasn't modified complained of a similar thing.
Anyone else had that problem and how do you fix it?

I recently switched from the waist harness to the lovely seat harness which beautifully emphasizes my lovely bottom...

I sail much better, and would not go back to the waist one, however, I keep tightening the leg straps, and the strap pulling the hook down which is annoying.
A friend of mine has exactly the same harness, and he doesn't have that problem.

Thinking of getting a small file, and sharpening the buckle edge.

So the buckle is metal? Mine are plastic clips.

Just thread the webbing back thru a short way so there is twice the thickness in the grabby part ()
