Im about to buy an Fanatic Falcon. Would I go for the all new 2013 or spend my money on a used 2012 or even the 2011. Is the changes between 2012 and 2013 worth the extra bucks? Looks like the falcon 2012 is pretty good when it comes to topspeed and a bit weaker when it comes to early planing. How about the 2013?

Adam I've never used a Falcon so maybe wait for someone who has. But my gut feeling is there'd be bugger all difference in the real world. If you have the bucks for a newie grab one, nothing like a new baby, if not you'd be happy with a good 2nd handy.

Hi Adamz!
I have the 2011 and 2012 Boards.
I didn't like the 2012 as much as i love my 2011 specialy my 101 it is the board i always go to.
The 2012 it doesn't plain as early but when it does stay out of the way never out of control you will love it.
If it was me i will go with the new one 2013. My friend told me that it is a great board.
Over all you will loooove these boards they jibe super nice, and glyde over chops with ease. And all of them (111, 112, 113) they will take the 8.6 sail with out any problem.
Good sailing.
Dani.

ive had the 2010, 2011, they changed shape in 2009, then in 2011 they sunk mast track, and more volume in back end of board, the 2012 and 2013 look like they have sunken mast track more, and more volume in back end or raised more?, i think they have got channels now, or tail cut outs???? i use the 2011, 121l a lot, but i have been thinking i could easily drop down to the 2013, 113l, they look big, especially the back end of board, personally, i didnt up grade to either of the more current models because i hate the colours, the 2012 has grown on me, ive used heaps of brands over the years and fanatic falcons are definately great slalom boards, good luck man,,,,

Can't comment on 2013 model (so not that helpful really), but I recently got a 2012 125L - love this board - much wider than equivalent 2011 model in the tail.

Milsy, your right - more volume and width than 2011 - you've seen mine flying past you enough now to notice.. The thing keeps going once its up on the plane more than any board I have ridden, and it is FAST. Can only recommend them. Have sailed alongside the 2013, and as firiebob says - not much difference in the real world that I can notice anyway....

Hi DaniS,
I remember discussing boards but can't remember when If your talking about the SL58 I got last year then yep and loving it. If the SL66 I'm still waiting, James said another couple of weeks, I'm 110% sure it'll be love at first sight. It's been awhile but I did say to take his time as it was our off season and I just had an eye opp, maybe he slipped yours in before mine

I have the 2013 Falcon 112 and its definitely one of those boards that just works. Planes super early and the acceleration is amazing, gybes sweet (not by me) and is very quick, especially off the wind. The deck recess seems to help mast foot pressure (stay sheeted in) which in turn keeps the board tracking.
A "plug and play" type of board but much more.
I rode the 113 (2012) and not much difference feel size wise but the new board feels more "lively". Is definitely bigger in the tail.
Fin size seems to be a combo of 40 (Talon and Meanline) with a 7.8 & 7.0 and a 36 with 7.0 & anything smaller. Sam P and I have had some fun sessions on the board and its just a pleasure to ride.
Hope this helps.
cheers,
Larko.

firstly, firiebob that is a sweet looking board....and couch, i luv the colour man,, secondly, how dare you raftcrew!!!!!! ha, nah, your the boss man, you are looking magnificent on that board, thirdly, larko is the king of falcons, there wouldn't be too many years that he doesn't up grade, ( a desperate plea to try and stay at the top), he would be able to make some great comparisons,,,,eagles are better than falcons, not in windsurfing board terms, probably not even in bird terms, but in football team terms

Thanx guys, I probably go for the 2013 122 and check the used market for a 2011/2012 for a high wind board in some of the smaller sizes. Again thanks for your answers, they helped a lot: )
