A DJI s1000 or S800 will do the trick - prepare to be shocked at the price tag though! You need a gimbal for the camera and good radio gear too.

I seem to remember some video footage take of Sail Rocket from a radio controlled model plane. I may have seen the same type of thing from Luderitz.

Found it:

The dji phantom is good up to 15 knots but after that it fights too much and drains the battery quickly. You'll need to invest in something a bit more solid then the phantom to get good windsurf action. That said the phantom is excellent for getting scenery and lifestyle shots with smooth results, Easier then setting up dolly shots. Ricardo, Just like me has crashed his and from what I read so have most others. I don't think the transmitter they used in the phantom 1 were all that good, They are greatly affected by wi-fi signals which cause them to do funny things...Even the wi-fi from the GoPro itself can cause interference. I believe this has since been fixed with the phantom 2. Mine has crashed twice for what would appear to be no reason at all, They just fly off on occasion. It survived the first crash into the ocean but the second one was into the ground which destroyed it. Strangely though the GoPro survived both crashes even though it wasn't in a housing? I think these will be banned before long.....So I'm buying another before it happens.

Thanks for all this advice. The Phantom 2 has a better battery, but based on the detail on this forum it sounds like it is still a major stretch. Will investigate and report back for benefit of others...

They are waterproof, so if they take a dip or land on water all good. I'm pretty sure he started with a cheaper one that went missing on a slightly windy day.

Not very long if people keep trying to pull stupid stunts like this.

Flying a remote control quadcopter over a crowded sports event is simply irresponsible and selfish. There is always a real possibility that something will go wrong, and if you are above a whole lot of people there is going to be a high chance of injurying someone.
