I'd like to know how they mange the traffic once the first part of the fleet has rounded the mark and you have sailors going in both directions.... crazy!
I wonder at how they can fly the boat across the start and not collect anyone!
Few close calls arent there? Its basically up to the competitors to make sure they're passing behind the boat. Penalties if they end up in front, or the boat has to alter course to avoid.
Still scary to watch though...
That's nucking futs , would love to see that in OZ.
I vote for a Flying boat start for the Cervantes Windsurf Challenge next year!!
However i think Snides in his rhib won't swerve to avoid accidents
Sailing in a offshore 40 knot wind with 500 others .thats RAD. The Flying Rabbit start is a close call for that start boat.
Simple.....you add another 1200 or so to the Ledge-Lancelin Event.....then do 2 races a day for 4 days!
There are 1400 registered this year!
Still need wind but
The event organisers would poop their pants if they had to organise an event in that wind.
Maybe the windsurfers can invade the L2L and get 3-400 across the start line from rotto.
