This is the craziest thing I have seen in a long time. It makes going out at Jaws look like kiddy play.
This seems to be a new trend flying between buildings, it's only a matter of time till someone hits one. Anyone ever seen that video of the wingsuit guy hit the cable stayed bridge? Yeah...bits....everywhere....![]()

The Arabs have been doing this for years. ![]()
That really impresses you sludger?
Having done both sky diving and paragliding... yes, this impresses a lot. Although I admit I have no clue how easy or hard it is to "fly" using one of those wing suits.

I've always wondered how much they are able to angle up and convert speed into altitude. Their glide slope seems terribly steep. In the case where the guy hits the bridge, he would have cleared it if he only had 1 meter more altitude, but instead he went through the railing like it was a cheese grater at some ridiculous speed. It appeared he wasn't able to 'pull up' the slightest bit, even though he was moving so fast.
The fact that they can't land using the suit alone, and still need a parachute, indicates to me they are falling, not flying.

I think it's still a controlled fall as opposed to flying.
Hard to say... how to you qualify "to fly"....?
Wing-suites have a glide-ratio better than 1... that probably qualifies as flight.
Given that it is possible to achieve 0 kph decent-rate (via a stall) - probably also indicates "flight".
Well they don't start on the ground and start flapping do they;)
Lol, good call.
I say it's "gliding".

Or if "surfing the internet" qualifies as surfing, then wingsuits must qualify as intergalactic space travel. ![]()

So by that analogy, planes dont fly... ![]()
I would consider a glide ratio of ~1:1 a fall. I'm sure there's probably a definition somewhere but personally I reckon you've got to be capable of a sustained 10:1 glide to actually be considered flying. I'm with dangle :)
Not sure it qualifies as "landing"... but is no worse than stunt-men stuff.
Well, I sure wouldn't think anyone could argue that a stunt man jumping off a building onto a pile of foam, or cardboard boxes or whatever, was actually flying. ![]()
If they could flare, and land safely on their feet on solid ground, I might be persuaded.
