Hey,
Canadian windsurf newbie here. Just bought this old Chinook boom off of Craigslist and have spent HOURS trying to figure out how to rig this thing to my mast. It was intended to be an easier alternative to the 80's clove hitch knot needing boom I have been using. Does anybody know the model of this so I can try to find a manual online to help me to solve this issue? I'd love to spent my time out on the water, not cursing my limited IQ. Thanks in advance!

The old hook and loop system. The notched out grooves on boom head are for adjustments for tightness' from boom to mast, there would be four pieces of rope seen on mast side once clamp is shut. The loop of rope will hook around mast ,top and bottom, on to clamp ( round nodules) and then clamp is shut.
Should use large diameter hose with one vertical cut for mast protector, pvc tube, to stop slippage of boom when going big, and stop rope from cracking mast. Hard to explain in words.
I think this is correct and am shore someone could post a photo to show you the go.
Old system but better than very old system.
Good luck

it needs two loops to hook onto the "buttons" on the lever.

It should be set-up like this:

Not the best photo...but you should work it out.

Also recommend using a mast protector so you can tension the boom firmly onto the mast to stop the boom moving too much laterally or slipping down the mast, and to avoid mast wear caused by boom jaws constantly rubbing on mast:

windsurfmarket.com/product/sdm_mast_protector/914

(mast protector fits onto mast from front)

Hope this helps.
Got this on a windsurfing Hawaii boom.

Old system but works perfect.
