Not a lot of wind and no snow Is it windy anywhere in April? Any hot tips for an April flatwater windsurfing holiday destination? Thank you!

The first day is good for practical jokes.

After that, it's all downhill

Given LG was a fail for me this season, it looks like I am owed a trip to Maui this winter. Thinking about a Pritchard clinic if you wanna save your coin, wait a couple of months and ride shotgun. Let me know if interested...Always cooler with a travel buddy to share the experience

What's April good for? For me a lot:
1. 1 turn 40
2. I'll turn forty in Maui on a one on one 6 day tuition with Matt Pritchard.
3. I plan on doing my first forward loop on this trip.

Best April ever!

Lake Grace?
Yeah no water again

So back to April - I think it is just fine to allow all the sore bits to almost heal, just before hitting the first winter fronts and getting smashed again

We say "April showers bring May flowers"........ but, it's not looking too promising yet!

I'll be catching tuna & blueye 30nm from home

When the wind's up - marginal westerlies & cross-offshores that will be unpredictable...but fun none the less.

Many years ago I tried an ice board ( basically a windsurf board with steel rails) . Retired though after almost knocking myself unconscious despite the motorcycle helmet. Nothing soft about ice.

Sounds good and there is not usually much wind in Perth in April. Pity windsurfing gear is so awkward to fly with.

Back in the 80's there used to be skiers with windsurfing sails..that seems to have died out? Kiting with a sail seems popular . I like the way they can sail up to the top of the main range rather than a 2hr + slog on XC skis..

Joe: Looking at the wind sweep snow on that lake, it looks like it honks there. I take it you were you sailing on a light day ?. Nice video

PS/ April is pretty good here. Although it's doldrums, you can be surprised with a few good fronts.

Obelix:
As I wear little safety gear, my tack and gybe/jibe attempts are performed VERY cautiously !!!
On the ice there is NO falling in - and so NO uphaul
just kick the board about and go = QUICK and EASY
this is done in the races on snow as well

jn1:
The beauty of sailing on the ice is exactly that - light wind days are sought !!!
Last Sunday another local said - too icy, too much wind and too cold.
Luckily I had gone in the morning with -13 degrees Celcius, ice and crusty snow with 20 to 25 kph winds
Used my ice model sled - same one as the video with an HSM Fire 6.3
In the summer I am on a large free-ride with an 8.x meter sail in those winds - 2 sizes up !!!

Locally people freak out when i tell them what i do
windsurfers say they would like to try it, but never seem to show up
