does anyone have any intel on this? I read that it will be released this year in 105/115/125 litre versions with foil sold separately. Having seen videos It looks like a cruiser set up and I like the look of it!

Me too - looks nice. Any thoughts on sail range on the 125? It looks a little more freeride (wider in the tail) than I had guessed so should work for bigger sails? Quite different from slingshot freestyle boards for example. Would be good to know the dimensions for the 115l version

Well, a slalomboard doesnt have to unstick as it never leaves the water. It reduces early planing slightly because of the reduced volume under thw tail, but with foiling that is of no consequence because you dont really plane and want to leav the water completely. In addition they keep the board from breaking as much as you hit some chop with the tail and thereby helps keep the nose up. Which is also the main function of them on a slalom board.

They're not the same company, they used to be under the same umbrella, but since severne started producing boards they're no longer that close.

Not completely sure what the level of association is between them, but Severne do their own boards etc now. It'd look a bit cheap if the smacked a severne sticker on a super cruiser, and Ben and the boys have their own take on what a foil should be.

I can assure you a lot of time has been spent making there "own" versions through trial and error by Severne.
We have certainly had way more sailing this summer due to foiing and love it.

Yep i can 100% say the guys from severne have put in some very serious hours on the water over at least the last 6-8 months (that Ive observed)making their foils work and they're certainly not a re badged Starboard foil !!

The interest has been high since we posted this picture so here are some details for you. Firstly - we are not yet sure when these foils will be delivered as parts are being made now as fast as possible with an expectation we in Australia will have them ready for spring, in quantity. Severne wanted to bring to the market foiling gear that is accessible to a wide range of riders to help grow this aspect of the sport, without the high technicality of the more specialised gear currently available.
There are some excellent race and wave products already in the market, however most sailors will want to ride in free ride environments with an easy to adjust, easy to foil set up. Severne is a premium performance brand producing the best windsurfing products through constant refinement and the best materials available. With foiling however, new riders do not want too much techinical adjustements to deal with or make choices from with new products because it is a whole new form of sailing to many. So Severne have simplified the process to offer a product that will give instant results. No-one wants to spend weeks re learning a new style of sailing. Severne's aim is to give riders the best chance of catching the "stoke" with-in minutes of trying foiling, not within weeks. Then also progressing fast to achieve the most fun possible in the shortest time. Yes we have had first timers get going with two quick runs - enough to go from "no way I'm foiling" to "when can I get one".
The foils will be attached to boards via a deep Tuttle base using 8mm bolts. We will also have a removable head section with the option on fitting a track head for track based boards.
The Severne Foil "Redwing" will be supplied with a 1400 front wing and 350 tail wing. Further wing sizes will be available later for upgradability.
Severne have been developing the Redwing for 6 months after refining the components (many profile adjustments later) to produce the most forgiving foil suitable for beginners to advanced riders to enjoy in flat water or ocean riding. Great turning, stability and with great speed for free riding fun with wave sails, free ride sails or the Severne FoilGlide sails. With wave sails these boards can by used to enjoy swell and chop riding with carving turns for days on end.
The Severne Office guys in Perth have been foiling all summer with at least 400 combined hours between them to build their skills and find pros and cons of various foil sizes and options, with input from some PWA riders to help develop a all round fun foil.
The Alien Boards from Severne will be here soon in quantity - we have had a few samples in Perth over the summer being used by a wide range of sailor abilities . The current boards come in three sizes, 105, 115, 125 with a 145/150 in development now.
These boards are intended for Freeride use predominantly. Straight rails for quick get up and go, cutouts and slight release angle on the back edges to help scoop the board up when pumping the board onto the foil. The front rails have just the right angle to smooth out the entry to the water when nosediving and help increase quick recovery and reduce the instance of catapults.
The 125 Alien is suitable for Foilglide sails down to wave sizes, from 8.0m down to 5.0m. It is a great board to learn on for riders of 65-95 kg and advanced riders up to 115kgs.
The 115 Alien is a great board for maximum fun with sails of 4.2-7.0m sails. This will suit riders of 65-85 kg in winds of around 8 - 20 knots.
The 105 Alien is great for smaller riders who if under 80kgs will be able to uphaul in light winds and can hold sails from 3.7ish up to 6.0m.

That's super helpful Information - many thanks. I'd also be interested to know thoughts on compatibility with starboard foils. Love the look of the Alien and dimensions look almost identical to starboard freeride 125 foilboard. With the multiple starboard Foil options available (supercruiser, freeride, gt foils), would be great to know that they'd work well in the Alien from a balance point and general usability perspective.

Interesting news on the Severne foil as I'm looking to buy a freeride foil and it would great to buy "local". With 1400 size it seems comparable (but a bit smaller) than to the slingshot 76 and certainly smaller than the SuperCruiser (1700). Is this going to come with a 90cm aluminium mast? What is the expected price point?

Hei! It looks like my Flikka ... although mine has the dog bowl in front! 117L, 207 x 77 wide. I use it now with straps in the back and Moses 790, the Taaroa is gone.
