First windfoil try of this board : RRD Pocket Rocket...

Nice video as usual Gwen. What are your thoughts on this board compared to others? Pros? Cons?

its interesting to see that your front foot is way behind the strap. When I looked at one of these in the shop recently I noticed that the front strap if much further forward than on my wizard 125.

I think that is because the RRD foil that the board was designed with a foil that has a long fuselage like a race foil.
So very foot forward. If you put a normal freeride foil with a short fuselage on it you need to move more backwards with your straps

The size of the board gives the impression of a toy because it is ultra compact and light ; this version is the lightest "LTD" (in texallium like the Exocet RF81).
The deck is completely covered with a Eva foam pad of differents colors; the case is of the deep tuttle type and the LOKEFOIL LK1 foil with the wing 1200 fits perfectly.
Multiple inserts are on the deck but are of no interest with a deep tuttle foil in a windfoil optic because these are too close to
the mast foot. So footstraps will not be used...strapless with this board. You have to go very far back to start the flight.

In terms of buoyancy, stability, no problem even with my 94 kgs.

The sail used for this test is a Purelip 5.2 Loftsails; We can consider mounting 6 / 6.5 but no more on this type of board.
The flight start is quite progressive ; to fly early, it is necessary to move back on the screws of the foil.

The position in navigation is very straight, above the foil; despite the lack of inertia of the board, the board is very stable longitudinally and laterally with the LOKEFOIL Lk1, the wing of 1200 and the stabilizer of 280.

The set is player and one can easily trigger pretty curves . No traction in the sail, which suggests a navigation without harness.

To hope to take off as soon as possible the solution is a fine, fast and short pumping, to quickly back up its supports and then pop up over the foil. A pumping force with amplitude in the traction of the sail will not be as effective since the nose of the board will tend to go from left to right.

The touchdowns in navigation are not felt and the relaunch after a jibe touch, from the moment when we keep speed, is fast. A light weight will be even more able to appreciate this ultra short board.

This is a very fun board for windfoil freeride that i used for 1,5 hour in a wind of about 15knts ... not as efficient, as a more traditional windfoil board but it is not in the same program, here we seek pleasure without particular performance.

I think you will find this board is designed more for SUP foiling and Wing foiling before windsurf.

Yes, you are right

Based on the RRD promo video it looks like a windfoil board with strap positions suited to the RRD WH Flight foil. This foil is not a race foil, rather a foil suited to freeride. I had one of these front footed foils before going more to the free race / race foil type setup more recently.

See the front foot placements of the guy in the RRD video. I like the compact concept, looks like would suit most freeride foils that suit an upright stance. Then the footstraps not really needed.

One of the the reviewer's main criticisms is the distance between the front and rear straps.

In the video linked below the rear straps are set much further forward. It appears that RRD has added more rear strap inserts to the board in response to the review linked above.

Agree about the rear foot strap positions. Looks like they needed moving inboard, and forward a bit. The RRD tutorial video shows also a strapless rear foot further forward supporting that thought.

The reviewer used a NP F4 foil, not well matched with the pocket rocket perhaps? The second video has the RRD WH foil which might be better matched with the board, and with better pitch stability.

I have just swapped from a wizard 125 to a pocket rocket.
3 sessions now on the pocket rocket. I am surprised how different they are. In a nutshell the rrd has the mast track further back and the front foot strap ( I use foot hooks) position further forward. What this means is that the trim control is more from your feet than the mast foot pressure. I find it better.
I swapped to the rrd as I will be trying some wing foiling this year aswell as wind foiling.
I am using the slingshot infinity 76.
I loved my wizard 125, nothing not to like. The pocket rocket is just a bit different.

The Pocket Rocket is super easy and fun. Works great with current Fwind from Slingshot or Moses 790. Forward strap all back and inside, back strap all forward and inside or without backstrap. The more volume in front makes it more balanced compared to Wizard 105 (had it before).

My local dealer (who is Fanatic dealer) pushing me toward Fanatic Sky SUP WS instead of RRD Pocket Rocket. I wonder how they compare? Width and length somewhat similar. Sky SUP has more volume. According Fanatic guys Sky SUP feels nerves with windsurfing rig as it's wing foiling board on first place.

No deeptuttle, no masttrack, but looks not bad. What weight has it and which size?

Bud uses NP Glide M strapless but stands right were the strap would be.

Has double US track forward of deep tuttle.

It does have mast track.
