Hi there, I am interested in using a Neil Pryde Glide Wind foil on a 2013 RRD Firestorm Freeride board (66cm wide) with a powerbox fin setup not designed for foils. I realise its a million dollar question but am I likely to encounter structural issues running this combination? I weigh 70kg and intend to use it in light to moderate conditions.. I realise its a difficult question to answer but any thoughts on this appreciated. Thanks
If you're 70 kgs go for it. I am the same. I fitted the NP glide wing on a 2010 Fanatic Shark with power box. Before buying the NP glide wing I contacted Sebastian Kornum, Danish rider, tester for NP foils, and asked him how strong or effective the pb adapter was. Noting that I would not do any 'radiculo' stuff on the foil, and my weight, he explained that the pb adapter has a large plate especially around the front of the mast that distributes the forces.
I've had many hits with rocks, many crashes with the foil, but the pb never failed. The pb adapter does its job, especially for your style of riding and weight.
