Having a nightmare with footsteps. Gave up on Naish supplied and now on an old set of F2 which are on last threads. Looking for a set of footsteps for the more upright stance that don't twist, fold over and can fit a size 11 (UK) foot.

Saw a set of brand new slingshot the other day which looked very stiff and open as well as the Dakines which have always been good.

What are you all using?

For someone who has quite big feet I can say that the Fanatic foot straps work really well, better than anything else that I have tried.

Naish also, size 11, but I wear 3 mm booties every session.
Only way it works is to push the center of the straps inboard, and then fully tighten them.
Rear straps touch each other, while fronts are as inboard as possible at their centers/highest part.

Look into the Dakine Tyrant strap. Can be adjusted to an extremely large setting. Very stiff, comfortable strap.

Do you want freestyle narrow and super tall?
Or do you use slalom tight?

Too many times I've pumped onto the foil and can't get my foot into the strap because its folded over or in on itself. Just interested in getting some suggestions to look at.

Narrow and big usually needs another screw for each insert. You can add one using another screw angled towards the center of the insert you are using.
Use skinnier screw for that.
Double screw prevents twisting ut now you might stumble over the stiff, tall straps.

I love my Dakine Tyrant strap. It is also classified as a freestyle strap. No extra screw holes needed. I wear 3mm booties and the straps work perfectly well, and can slide my foot in comfortably well. I can step on the strap and it pops back up to normal position. Strap never folds down, caves in or gets stuck. I always outfit my boards with these straps. Good luck!

Size 12 US feet here. When I bought a North Pacific foiling board, the Chinook straps they supplied were far too small. That means, too short before mounting. Fine for size 8 feet, but not for my big dogs.

I had a set of larger (equals longer, 2" longer) MFC straps that are working fine.

Since this board uses single footstrap holes, use have to use anti-twist bases. Those work fine IF you can really screw those puppies down. Instead of using Philips screws, which always slip the screwdriver no matter how much downforce you apply, I went to Tacoma Screw and got a set of #2 square-drive screws and a @2 square driver tool. No slippage now. Now I can crank those screws a lot and compress the anti-twist devices into the pads. This works really well. There is no footstrap twist.

Thats great advice. I will investigate the screws you mentioned. The twisting is a real part of the problem

So just add another smaller screw.

Can't add another screw because the footrap holes are singles. The square-drive screws are working well.

That said, every board ever made SHOULD have double holes for the footstraps. I got spoiled by my Mike's Lab formula boards.

You DO know the average 4 hole insert is solid between each hole, and is just barely less than 1/2" wide.
Aim your second screw within that space.
For a better picture in your mind, search Chinook and go to 4 hole inserts.

The inserts on my North Pacific foil board are fore-and-aft rows of single holes.

Just like 95% of all windsurf boards made in Thailand, Vietnam, and Tunisia.

bought a set of those for my son (full on freestyler) he never used them...
Gave them a go on my foil board ...... best straps ever !!!! wide, no twist, ultracomfy, easy to get out of

No looking back since, ordered a new set for the next board (*board 150...hmmmm)

I just use my JP straps, but I open them nice and wide so if I stack it, my feet don't get stuck in there.

Except that North Pacific boards are built by hand by Art and Richard in Hood River, OR. Those guys have been shaping and building boards for, what, 40 years. Nice thing about their foil boards is that they really know how to make a foil board that is stupid easy to use. The shape, volume distribution, footstrap placement, and mast track make it crazy easy to get into both front and back straps and just ride.

The single holes work just fine as long as you have some kind of anti-twist device underneath and you can REALLY cinch those screws down. After going with square drive screws, I have had zero twist problems.

All those strap positions also mean that worrying about foil tracks, fuse pointed the wrong way, etc aren't really necessary. I think those things end up confusing people sometimes more than they help.

My board is US made, too, and has single holes. Same positive experience as you.

I've been a Dakine primo user for many years. Decided to try something different on my foil board.
Armstrong foil straps.
Come with SS316 torx screws and titanium washers. Look good.
Will see how they go over the coming months.

These Drakes came with my two foil boards. I love them! super light weight, thin and strong, but most importantly, you can smash them if you need to step in that area. I want to put these on all my boards.

i'm feeling out the new Slingshot half straps for my rear straps. So far I like them as well.

I use kite foot straps (Cabrina something). They are deep and give more control, especially in racing style riding. My feet never got stuck in the straps if catapult happen, always slid out. Though if I fall to sides they stuck, but in narrow windsurfing straps it did same.
